please give up on the idea that they will make it free one day. They cant and they wont. Not only is it a slap in the face as well as a sign of desperation to the people that spent money buying the game, it also will surely break the game. Bots were a big issue when the game was 40 dollars, you think there is anything holding back bots and cheaters if the game is free? On top of this, making the game free is only a temporary solution, it will spike the players for a month MAX before the playerbase drops again, then what? the game is already free, there is nothing else they can do, thus ending the development of the game altogether. Every MMO goes through phases like this in the beginning, the best you can do is be patient and support them until they get these updates rolled out.
Dude, wake up… game has 20k players peek… it’s over… if they don’t change it drastically, it won’t make it to april.
wake up? you clearly dont know how game development works. Going F2P is suicide and if you use half a brain youd understand that. But by all means, go ahead and live in your fantasy world.
Bad idea. Very bad idea.
If you like to work for free, enjoy it. I hope AGS dont.
lol may as well just shut down the servers if your going to go F2P.
and your crazy if you think AGS will give refunds
Why give money back to the players who have bought? You have already gained a head start over these new players you want to bring in.
I think they should go with F2P in the next 3 months or so after they continue to iron out the bugs.
They also need to charge for DLCs or expansions to keep going.
I didnt say give money back… O said give in game store credit.
Game is dead… only chance is to bring a lot more people and than charge for an expansion
If you think they will keep a project for 20k people, you are the one living on a fantasy world and knows nothing about the real world.
Same thing TBH
Making it free wont fix core problems
I hope youre a child because there is no way you dont understand this. 1) there arent 20k players, there are way more players that play at different times, 20k concurrent at the time you check does not mean there are only 20k players who play the game. 2) there are games with 100+ players who get regular updates, amazon have a game this big + the amount they made off of the 25+ million units sold is plenty enough to keep the game updated and polished. This isnt your 5th grade project for you to throw the towel in and give up, its a game made by a triple A company which has taken years to develop, they are not going shut down servers because an entitled 12 year old said their game is dead lol. At the end of the day neither you or me are developers, im sure they know better than us. Just play the game (or dont) either way, dont lash out when someone corrects you.
The only place I find this figure is on these forums, and the person “promised” they would find the original link but did not.
Do you have the link? No, you do not.
you realize that 25 million units sold is a total fabrication right?
it’s a forum myth. if they had if sold 25 million units the concurrent players would of been much higher then they ever were.
not to mention the fact that new world at no point had enough servers going to support that increased concurrent player count that would of come had they had sales like that.
Exactly. Also, sites like mmo-population saying New World has 300k daily. It doesn’t jive with nwdb.info’s regional info, unless people are playing really short sessions and contacting one another when they log off to log on…which is weird when individual servers are 25-50% at peak.
Must be trying to stealth those peaks of 25 million accounts.
Free? Yeah umm maybe when the map is finished.
Next-level Copium Thread.
It’s too early for that…
Making a game Free-to-play from being a pay-to-play is the absolute last resort of a game to survive… May it be by AGS themselves or by another publisher, but It will always be in the cards… The problem is, High-end free-to-play games with a huge number of players tend to include pay-to-win elements to keep up with servers and other expenses. We don’t want a hugely PvP dependent game like New World to be pay-to-win, right? Atleast not right now while a number of players still hasn’t given up on the game yet.
The point was the 25 million which was quoted is a made up number. Regardless, it doesn’t matter how much a piece of software sells it matters how much it is used. That is especially so for the MMORPG market.
New World has been dueling it out with Euro Truck Simulator 2 and Stardew Valley in the mid 30’s ranking. That is a platinum tier?
bump. i agree 100%
