Make leaving in expeditions punishable

Yeah I know… sometimes you can’t take down a boss with a certain group… but atleast give it a try more than once. :slight_smile:

Hot take back when they required orbs for dungeons nobody would ever leave because they didn’t want to waste an orb… maybe they should go back to having some buy-in to get into dungeons.

Just make a “leave expedition” vote. If most of the players in group want to leave then not punishable.

If you make it punishable people will just not help. Just afk or stay enough to not get booted for afk but not help so the group won’t succeed. Forcing people to continue something that’s clearly not going to go well never works out.

This could be griefing. I’ve been in worse runs but we still managed to finish it with PUGS after 3 - 4 hours.

My vote is on the leave expedition vote. If everyone votes for it, you lose an entry but everyone can leave.

Your average player isn’t spending five hours on a group event. This is coming from a Everquest player who’d spend two hours just setting up for a raid that can go eight hours with corpse retrieving. That simply isn’t reasonable. When you put penalties like you want you simply kill PuG group’s completely.

You’ll have to be clear on this since it’s very generalized. Yes there are times where all hope is lost that’s why there’s a vote and everyone can just end it there. But there are also times when you know you can do it, but it just needs a couple more tries. Lots of people give up way too easily at the slightest inconvenience, and if you can corpse run for 8 hours then sure some people can try and try until they can succeed.

That you think trying it for several more hours might be reasonable doesn’t mean everyone does. One person that doesn’t shouldn’t be punished because you have five more hours to kill hoping to accomplish something in a game.

we have democracy, if everyone wants to leave and you don’t why force all the others to keep trying?.. Vote for it and if ends try with another group. Also for mutations you really need to make it in time… so that will help.

It happens for a number of reasons… I have pulled out after the first mob a few times when the group is getting wasted because people want to run trash weapons have the wrong pips, etc, or just don’t know what they are doing. There is no reason to stick around when it might take 1-2 hours to clear a 30-minute dungeon.

I do get that it can be frustrating at times. But honestly, a better solution for both mutations and regulars would be to give everyone a clearance rate stat on group finder. A lot of people want leader boards for PvP I would love to see them set for PvE…

Then a guy who dont want continue will just go afk. Or others will make someone a hostage.

It would be nice to add an mvp title board for the 3 best players in expeditions!

I’m literally not forcing anyone. There are times when you need to drop it and there are times when you can go on. Usually sometimes people will grief and not go on even if it’s possible, but most of the time people will continue.

I’m just giving an example and breaking down what you said, there are instances for both where it’s a complete failure and sometimes it’s salvageable. It’s not completely one or the other. There are 5 people in a team, and if this is implemented, the majority vote will win.

This game isn’t majority rules. Because three can be inconvenienced for hours and hours the others shouldn’t take a penalty. Especially if they have already tried to complete it and it failed. What’s a valid reason, other than you being inconvenienced by them leaving (which is no worse then you forcing them to stay or giving them a penalty) that should earn them a penalty for leaving?

The problem with MVP for an expedition is how you measure it: damage taken, damage given, or healing…

We’re talking about a hypothetical voting system if a group wants to continue or not. I personally do not care if anyone leaves in my group or not, at this point everyone has done so much runs that the only ones to be affected by this are new players.

What I am talking about is people specifically leaving just because they are toxic and grieving other people. You have to make accommodations for that, just in case.

And what penalty are we talking about? The penalty is already leaving the dungeon and losing that entry. That in itself is the penalty for everyone not just one person. You don’t lose an additional entry on top of what you used.

The OP wanted a penalty if someone left early.

Must’ve forgotten about that cuz it sounded more of a suggestion. No point in it really, they can just farm and wait it out until it’s available again.

I think OP just faced a leaver and is frustrated. Is this true @BeppieWoonwijk ?

Almost all expeditions I’ve played there is atleast one leaver. The ones who don’t leave, I do multiple runs with. Maybe it’s because I play in later hours of the night.

But it is annoying especially if someone leaves that is a tank (I’m a healer), or even before the game is started with the timer someone leaves. It makes it worse if dps’ers are raging at the tank, tank leaves, while they themself don’t have enough dps…
