Before going in to my suggestions, i would like to point out that i personally play almost every weapon opr / arenas and mostly bow in wars. I would like to take a different approach to tune current meta that is present in both opr and war scenarios.
Playing bow or firestaff builds feels just awesome right now. Gameplay is fluid and rewarding and that’s the reason there is 30 bows / firestaff out of 40 in opr. My suggestion is not to nerf these weapons which would be the most logical answer here but instead buff certain melee weapon skills and aspects that could bring melee up to fire staff / bow level both fluidity and power wise.
General power and fluid bump targeted mostly to melee
-
Remove slow from end of MEDIUM dodge animation. This will greatly improve gameplay of mostly melee medium armor users
-
Tune fortification.
- Value of shirking fortification and most talents could be almost doupled
- Melee weapon fortification from talents and such should generally be higher than from ranged weapons and it should be always a meaningful talent choice even when playing as light melee
Rapier
-
Rapier lacks GRIT (has literally less GRIT abilities than firestaff?)
-
Flurry
- This skill needs a GRIT and huge tracking / sticking buff while channeling. Dont think it would be overpowered but open alot rapier builds in PVP that could be hella fun (medium rapier bruiser style combat)
Spear
-
Skewer
- Must be one of the worst abilities in game to use when you try to chase someone. Make it’s physics work like leaping strike or feral rush so you wont hit invisible wall everytime you jump out of cliff with this, might help with the chasing issue also
-
Cyclone
- Rework this and make this castable while moving, even that alone would make this a good ability to use. Now it completely destroyes any fluidity when it roots you to ground for a second
-
Perforate
- GRIT trought talent / armor perk would be nice, but could throw this ability litle bit to a too strong category
Hatchet
-
Feral rush
- Lower the frames of ending animation. It’s too long and it would smooth up the gameplay
-
Berserk
- Good job tuning this abilitys power but now remove the long rooting animation from end of it. It has no purpose, completely destroyes any fludity and most people use animation cancels to go round this anyway
Greataxe
-
Whirlwind
- Need’s a damage boost to make it abit scarier. I should scare someone more whirwinding to my face with long CD than someone flamethrowering with 0 cd
-
Light and heavy attack
- Give this man abit more range (not as much as the first version of this weapon but more than now, close to sns level)
SWORD
-
Whirling blade
- Rework or give this ability GRIT and way faster animation, could be usable
Warhammer
-
Migty gavel
- Make this feel better to use in pvp, more range faster animation etc.
Void gaunlet (void blade)
-
Light attack
- FIX hit detection on this, feels so bad to use
These are just my quick thought’s and tuning of most frustrating abilities to use in PVP. My general feeling in this game is that faster and fluid game play feels generally better and anything that roots you to place for too long feels just bad.
Comment your thought’s and add things ive missed and LETS MAKE MELEE GREAT AGAIN LETS GOOOO
