Running into multiple instances where chests won’t loot. They’ll sit in animation then not complete. In the past when this happens, if you just started again it would loot. But in this case and with multiple chests, interacting with the chest again won’t allow it to loot.
These are fresh chests after killing mobs in the zone for the first time this day. Standard supply chests.

Okay so what I suspect that is going on here is that when they released 1.1, some chests were changed in type. But when they were changed, they were copied from existing chests. I think each chest in the game has a unique identifier associated with it so the game can track when it’s been looted.
However, the copied chests (while changing types) carried the same ID and so when the first chest is looted, the copied chests are effectively looted also, however the visual on the chest appeared to make it look like the chest wasn’t looted.
How to fix this would be to go through and make sure all chest unique id’s are in fact unique.
this is really annoying, for me it happens around 10% of the times when looting chests in shattered mountains. Yesterday for the first time it happened to an elite chest as well.
Man this happens to me all the time on my chest runs. It’s really annoying and frustrating to say the least. With 1.1 the goal was to slow everything down from WM, to crafting and when you are trying to do runs daily and find 10% or more of these chests just laugh at you its gets so frustrating
Its a new Feature like all the other game breaks in New World. Its literally like they are actively trying to force the playerbase to quit and delete game.
I don’t think it is the type of the chests. Because the unlootable chests are lootable later or the next day and I’m doing always the same sequence on my runs. I have the same happening at those lootable cars in the cities (most of the time on the hemp car in WW). It is totally random which chest is unlootable on each day.
I don’t think it is type of chests either. What I was saying, is that in the patch they changed the types of some chests and I think they did it using copy/pasta.
The reason why the chest is later lootable is because the source chest goes off cooldown. I find it is often the exact same chests that seem consistently unlootable and I suspect it’s because I’ve looted the “main” ID chest earlier.
I understood that. But it is inconsistent to my described observations except if they change ID every day. On my chest run I loot the same 30 chests in the same exact sequence over the same timespan everytime. And yet if there is an unlootable chest it is always a different one.
Same for the town wagons. It can be the first thing I do after logging in the first time on a day and it still can be unlootable.
