@WarMongerian, i can appreciate seeing positive feedback for AGS. Too often we see negative feedback, and while it may be deserved, it does not help motivate AGS to improve the game. instead of whining, lets provide examples of how to fix (according to our view).
You’re right, coming back after the launch is such a different experience. I feel free to travel the world for cheap, gather, refine, move stuff between storages. To me this is absolutely amazing; i no longer feel restricted and needing to stay home because i couldn’t afford to travel due to base cost, distance, weight (yes always heavy when moving stuff). I remember my levelling days where i would spend 2 hours walking between settlements to move stuff around the storages; darn OCD…
Yes, the March update is amazing and according to some people, it should have been part of release, however, it’s not too late. It’s here now, so lets enjoy it. We can see from recent updates, that AGS is listening, so lets give credit where credit is due.
Yes, i was sad that it took an extra day and change to get the March update but we go it and it’s amazing. There may be a couple of minor bugs hanging around but they will likely be addressed soon
We need to be more patient and credit the recent direction that AGS has taken.
I believe this game can be great for the majority of players but it will take time to introduce enough content and pleasant systems so that everyone can find a part that they like.
Other MMOs have been out for many years and had that much more time to create content, so we cannot compare them to NW. Then there is an imbalance of play time; some people have many many hours a days, while the majority only have a few it is difficult to provide a balanced experience this early in the game’s existence.
I also wanna thank the devs for the effort. It’s far from perfect but it’s defiantly much better then b4.
If I may ask, Is there a team responsible for pvp balance or is that something that is done by game designers in general?
I’m asking just to know if there is a dedicated team/person that could make adjustments with each patch regardless of the other aspects of the patch being developed by other teams or if its the same devs for content creation and pvp balance and they can only work on one of these aspects of the game at a time.
My friends and I had a great time in the new Dungeon. I appreciate the hard work. That snake boss is a great challenge. I hope to see more encounters like that one.
I’m interested to know what the world feels like now that you can fast travel everywhere for nothing and have universal storage that requires no traveling or cool-downs to promote world travel. I’m interested because it makes me wonder why they didn’t add mounts to the game now.
Anyway, I think this game has lost all open-world elements that drew me to it in the first place and has truly joined the ranks of theme-park MMO. Haven’t played in a while, so maybe I’m wrong.
It was a huge leap in the right direction for them to make some severely needed QUL fixes. The global daily cool down time and linked storages to name the two largest this patch. The new dungeon is without a doubt AAA. It looks and feels like they put some serious love into it and that is absolutely awesome. From my perspective with this patch I really think AGS developers are turning a serious corner towards that positive. I look forward to more patches like this in the future with awesome content and many more QOL fixes.
Now I’ll return to bitching about bots/rmt buyers/sellers/and idiotic pve bonuses for pvp flagging
Open world still have a lot of players, most of them farming nodes. There’s always a few low level players leveling up.
But the most exciting thing is that open world PvP got revived because companies are defending influence pushes.
Rafflebones had a good amount of folks out in the openworld. Some even flagged. I don’t think that will last after the novelty wears off though and he is in set spawn spots.
I do think the changes have killed the open world traversal sadly. Hopefully they come up with something to draw people back.
World bosses/events. Things like Fates in FFXIV. I’m sure they’ll get there eventually.
Different people will have different opinions for sure. For me and several of my buddies that play, this cheap travel and storage management actually opened opened up the game and I’m excite to gather and refine more (let’s leave bots for another topic).
why is it better to charge more azoth and have to grind it? is there nothing else in the game that is more rewarding? why aren’t you travelling and exploring more now that it’s cheap? I enjoy going somewhere and just gather/walk until i get tired and then travel back home refine and move stuff to the different storages (from one settlement)…
if you want the game to be 90% about walking and manually moving items between towns, you can still do it. AGS is not preventing you from walking instead of travelling or teleporting items.
In my own opinion, this serves most players.
I don’t mean to offend you, just presenting the other side
Continue like this, the work will pay off and in any case the small delay allowed a much more serene realese, and above all much less lag and desynchronization, sooo cool ! ( From Translate)
It’s been a while since I’ve played. The changes do seem much more convenient. It was very annoying trying to sort storage in multiple places. I was just hoping for something cooler than universal storage from any location and basically free fast travel.
I imagined this game giving different values to different locations with people traveling between territories and going to war for them for different reasons. Now that claiming a territory doesn’t have the benefit of storage transfer and cheaper fast travel, what is the reward for holding a territory other than slightly cheaper housing tax and crafting buffs? At least they added incentive for world travel with Rafflebones, but I think most players will just skip traveling if they can fast travel closer to where they want to be without much loss.
I guess corrupted portals, farming resources, world PoIs for Elite chests, and faction quests are enough to keep the open-world feeling active – at least I hope so. Hopefully they add more incentives to keep players exploring all areas of the map at end-game (when there are no more quests to keep you running around), maybe even while flagged. I’m still hoping for more action and events revolving around the world Forts too, instead of PvP being mainly in OPR.
I guess if your just a crafter or trying to grind BiS gear with no real desire for world interactions with PvP, then this doesn’t really matter. I was just hoping for more emergent player interactions within the world rather than queuing up for OPR. Maybe even add PvP flagged farming to town boards as a requirement to upgrade the Fort for Wars.
I had taken a break from New World since the release of Lost Ark. I came back to the game two weeks ago since I love this one. At the start of February, the game was in a disappointing and worrying state. This update is excellent and the game is much more fluid both in terms of combat, movement and I would even say graphically. The new weapon is very fun to play and very original.
QOL additions are highly appreciated. For me, having access to every storage from every city is simply the best improvement. My second is the Azoth cost reduction for movement which allows me to farm anywhere in Aeternum without constraint, allowing us to explore areas where we would normally go much less.
I can’t wait to be able to do the new dungeon. Even very excited since it looks beautiful. Unfortunately I couldn’t find a group yesterday on my 100 player server. I hope to succeed in the next few days.
Congratulations on this update. You definitely work very hard. Don’t give up! Several players believe in New World even though there is a lot of criticism.
If we go back to the same date last year, March 31, 2021, it was the release in alpha 2 of the first Amrine excavation dungeon to test this one. ( Introducing Expeditions - News | New World ) Simply to say that the game has evolved enormously over the past year. Can’t wait to see his condition on September 28, 2022. Hoping the game is a good life ahead of him.
I am estatic with all the changes, i appreciate the being able to move things from storage to storage the most. i LOVE the new dungeon, it feels difficult but not impossible and the fire cilla boss is extremely fun, the last boss was a blast to learn as well. there’s still room for improvement, always will be but it is shaping up to be a solid game, it has some muscles now on it’s good bones. I know i have been hard set on certain topics in my other posts and comments but i really do appreciate the dev team and the community managers.
If someone comes back and still doesn’t like the game how it is now, it’s ok, it’s not for you right now, because I know what it’s severely lacking: leaderboards and tournaments/competitions. But that will come in time, so maybe that will bring you back.
The new expedition is insanely beautiful, has many new mechanics, stuff to learn and mutations in that run will be quite “interesting”.
The storage changes, for doubling the weight of chests and being able to transfer from and TO other storages easily and freely: OMG!
Joining OPR/Wars/Invasions from anywhere is great!
Daily/weekly reset was a MUCH needed quality of life improvement!
Only one to start an expedition, that’s so useful!
Adding to the great QOL improvements from the February update, the game feels more polished now.
Sure, nothing is perfect, but it’s on the right tract. Keep up the good work!
