Massive Issues with Node Camping on full Servers

I think Amazon should do something. Die hards will stay, but any casual player may be frustrated and just leave.

Everything seems to be headed towards daily limits such as obsidian. But I think instanced nodes may be the best solution, because if you are leveling up a gatherer, daily limits would be frustrating. It will just be supply demand, if the supply outstrips demand, then bots will stop botting, as it wont be worthwhile botting that activity.

Force pvp on if player stayins in some area for longer time (15min?). Each time he leaves turn it off and when he comes back, turn on.

I crafted myself heavy con gathering gear, all 590+ from sticky vines and spectral dust. Not ideal to fast kill annoying mobs, and i might miss out on the 10% bonuses because of not reaching the 200 stat point yield increases, but it works with whatever build I am currently playing without reallocating attribute points.
And it gets the job done.

Another way to look at this would be randomized spawns, resource nodes no longer spawn on the same place after they’ve been collected. Once a Orichalcum has been minned inside ebonscale, it would spawn within ebonscale. This can be tweaked as Devs need and might put a stop to bots and campers.

Really the people who spend the day camping next to an ore node, are a blessing for me. If they are still in that node, they do not route nodes, and what they will achieve in 1 day, I do it in a while by running the nodes in a loop, once I have caught the rhythm of the respawn timers

Forcing the PvP flag on is not a solution. Since, most of the New World players are PVE… and they spend the day farming, so the only thing that would do would be to piss people off, and make them leave the game

instantiating the nodes per player, maybe it would be a solution, or at least it would help fight the bots, or lower the price at which they sell their products

What I do have clear is that there are few nodes in relation to the number of players on the server, and they have to do something to solve it and even more so now they expand to 2,500 players per server

cheers

It’s a vicious circle, nodes are camp because too much people farm and there are not enough nodes for everyone.

I agree, as I too wish they would just make the nodes per player instanced like other MMOs. It would fix so many things, and rip the incentive right out from under the bots, trolls, and campers.

@Luxendra could you please make sure the devs know about this issue, so it gets fixed before the big patch?

Short summary of the issue:

  • not enough high level resources for the current population (ori, lodestone, ironwood, etc.)
  • lots of people camping node clusters or running optimized routes
  • no way to fight unflagged people off the nodes
  • no way to compete other than spamming E on a node faster than the other guy
  • casual players can’t get their daily crafting and refining materials in their alloted daily playtime

We need to do something before we get even more players for the new patch, since this is a big source of frustration and i don’t want there to be another big friction point for players.

Node “camping” is a none issue, imo. People don’t sit there 24/7. If someone is camping a node, you could juat like… Go somewhere else, lol. Or wait for them to have collected their mats.

The real issue is bots running optimized routes and taking thousands of everything. They DO run 24/7. Mostly taking the higher level resources from more convenient areas, i.e. the wirefiber in Windsward etc.

You don’t understand. Almost every node is camped, there are barely any available nodes. if it was just one guy sitting on a single node, we wouldn’t be talking right now.

I don’t know about your server, but i play on Valhalla/US East and there are plenty of resources to go around. I report bot every day, and it drives me up the wall to see them, but theres still enough resources for everyone.

The only thing thats even remotely difficult to get is ironwood, and thats just because of a lack of trees. There just aren’t enough, period. Wirefiber used to be hard for me, but i found some ares where there is basically never anyone farming them(at the times when i play).

If you’re finding that your specific server to TOO contested for resources, maybe it’s time to go to another one. Or just buy the resources.

I’ve had a lot of reports from Valhalla that state the exact opposite. And please, can we stop talking about this as if this is a you or me issue? this affects the entire playerbase and mostly the people that don’t have a ton of time to play everyday, so please let’s expand the scope a bit and see it for what it is.

Valhalla doesn’t have any serious resource issues, i hop on and farm every day, or every other day at least. Occasionally, there will be someone camping a small cluster of resources, but generally speaking, the biggest problem is bots running around grabbing EVERYTHING. Node camping isn’t as big of an issue as you’re making it seem. Like i said, there are more than enough resource spawns for most things so that if someone IS camping somewhere, you can just go somewhere else.

The only two resources i’d agree are highly contested are ironwood and silk. The spawns for these are small and spread out, and with a server full of people + bots running min/max routes to collect everything, it can get annoying.

Everyone seems to get the OP point here except Sulliman.

This is a big part of why there’s such a demand for PvP servers.

I seem to recall you constantly criticizing PvPers but now that you’re stuck in a PvE hellscape you still seem unhappy.

Maybe you just don’t like online games where other players can impact you?

Many of the anti-PvP crowd have been viciously fighting against such areas since alpha.

This is why we want pvp servers

I’m a PVE player. I recognize the benefit of throwing PVP players a bone that takes them out of my mode and out of my sight. Creating an area that requires PVP that has a reasonable amount of all the crafting nodes would be a win win for everyone.

Tell me how many of those clusters, you took a picture of, are required to craft 10 runestones?? The truth is you need a LOT of resources in this game, which requires correct pathing to utilize your time and there is no pathing when someone is camping your resources most of the time. You get disappointed really fast. You just took a picture of 3 random lodestone locations. GJ! I can take the same pictures. This is not the point of the conversation. The point is people want to put their farming sets, drink that yield potion and go farm, not do all this shit and go on the location and see their resources are gone. Its really disappointing.

I’m just a casual PvXr at this point. I log in, do my chores, use my cooldowns, help anyone who needs to run something, and log out most days now. Usually just buy the materials I need for cooldowns. I stay flagged but I rarely attack others unless provoked. It’s not about ganking for me, it’s about a game with consequences.

I don’t think a full server of PvP would change much for New World. So much of the game has moved away from that idea that I just don’t think it would be worth it. I do think a lawless zone would be fantastic though. Maybe even throw in faction forts with a capture the flag event every 30mins to an hour. IDK.

Definitely can confirm on CoS. I couldn’t tell a bot from a hole in the ground, but EVERYWHERE, excluding a little part of CK, was loaded with people tryna get lodestone with people camping nodes. Like others, I don’t have 8-10 hours a day to do this.

The guy who claims this isn’t an issue: Perhaps we should all move to your server?
