Material converters & Repair kits questions and ideas thread

Hey folks, I’m making this thread so I can fact check my understanding of these two item types in NW, how they work, how much they cost, and all that.

As I understand things right now, the faction store sells the material converters for faction tokens (no gold needed) as follows:

CMC

Common material converter = 100 faction tokens, and can convert lowest tier refining reagents into another lowest tier reagents, like sandpaper to sand flux, for instance, and that this process uses 20 of one, to make 15 of another.

AMC

Advanced material converters = 200 faction tokens, and other than the fact that they use the middle tier reagents, are exactly the same as the CMC.

MMC

Masterwork material converters = 500 faction tokens, otherwise the same as the others.

So folks, do I have all this info correct so far?

Next up, the Repair kits. Although I have crafted a very tiny amount of the most basic of these items, I don’t really know much about them in actual use. What I do know, or at least (think I) know, is that these things remove the gold cost of repairing items, and that they are a one shot wonder, in that, they can repair an item entirely, but are then consumed in the process? I have in fact never used one of these (read as: “I never figured out how” to use them) and so have more questions than answers for these things.

Looks like the best description and discussion is showing where they are described, and then how they are made. So, first off, one just needs to go to their trade skills page,

and the click on their weaponsmithing skill itself, on the top row, far left hand skill,

and this takes us to the breakdown page for this crafting skill. I know I was shocked to discover all this information back in the day, and would hope that everyone else already knows how to get here by now, but hey…

The standard kit is unlocked at weaponsmithing skill level 15, as shown above, in the far upper right corner of the image.

The more advanced kits unlock every additional 50 levels, so

We can see where these all come into play progression skill wise.

Now let us go take a look at where they are made…
So as it turn out, weaponsmithing is used at the Forge to make these items, and here are the formulas for them.

Hopefully, all these images are clear and sufficient to show the required information.

Before I open this topic up, let me pose a few questions to everyone that reads this:

  1. Did you know about the material converters before reading this thread? Where to find them, how much they cost, where and how to use them, and what kind of fees you will be charged when making use of them?

  2. Did you know about the repair kits before reading this thread? Where to craft them, and what they do, and (what I still don’t know) how to use them?

Maybe I’m the only dumbass on the planet that failed to know these things, but then again, maybe not…

So, for replies I’m looking for folks to tell when/how they learned about these things, and then we can begin the discussion proper about ideas to improve them.

Also, I should note that the formulas use one or more craft mods,
ingredient box
whenever you see an ingredient listed within a box, you can open that box and see all the alternatives that could be used instead. Everyone should already know this, but if not they should learn it quick. :grinning:
For this formula, my character has these alternative ingredients on her right now

  1. Yes, I found these recipes when exploring the crafting stations back in October.

  2. Yes.

When you click on an item in your inventory, there is an option to use a repair kit to repair it. Ctrl+t+click is the shortcut.

You can only use repair kits that correspond to the item’s tier. For example, you can only repair tier 5 items with master repair kits (or repair parts and gold of course.)

Repair kits can also be crafted as an engineering item at the workshop or an armoring item at the outfitting station.

Hey, thanks for the good and quick reply.
Does this work for equipped items as well, or do they have to be in the inventory specifically?

Anytime.
Yep, works for equipped things.

Thanks. I also appreciate the info on the other ways to make them, but haven’t had the time to cover that method as yet. Once I get the other thread I’m working on posted, I’ll come back to this thread, and start talking about how I would like to see things improved.
