So just a little constructive criticism, and probably a very unpopular opinion… but all zones level 40 or 50+ should be perma flagged… create an environment where people need to fight or earn stuff… especially when it comes to end game resources. (Orichalcum/wirefiber…ect.) There’s very limited resources all with static spawns that have a c/d timer when farmed… and currently the only way to compete over scarce end game resources is to run around, hoping you get to the node or spawn first… this also leads to more… for a lack of better words pathetic players luring mobs to steal the node. So… instead of a very…awful system… why not introduce meaningful PVP to compete over these end game materials? I literally ask almost every person farming over or with me to duel for spot and i’ve been taken up on that offer once, i was beat… i left… Maybe i’m wrong here, but this game was intended to be a pvp game… so what’s wrong with making players fight for highly contested materials? if anything it promotes growth, and if it doesnt… maybe go back to FF or wow… idk what to say on that one.
The majority of “pathetic” players you type about ARE the pvp players that drag mobs onto other folks, that is how you pvp players think. I understand you think you deserve something, you do not.
The nodes should be phased as in any other MMO, sadly they are not. Had this game been full PVP your idea would be antiquated because that was the original intention. But, factors that your subculture in this game generated, caused a shift from losing subs to making the community healthy. Your idea is a step backwards, like the other half dozen or so cries to make flagged areas.
In time you and your ilk will likely have that dream island or instance, but not now.
Go play Minecraft on creative mode… everything is free and everyone is happy… you’re playing a MMO that was supposedly focused on PVP. I don’t think i deserve anything, i wish to simply fight for it and let the stronger and better person win… it’s called competition and i assume by this response you don’t like it… I wont get into why but you can probably guess. If resources were phased and i assume that means every gets their owns nodes… there would be no economical point to farming…so you’re mentality " i can have my materials without doing anything besides hitting the E button" wouldn’t work, it would kill a large majority of the economy.
It was originally pvp based. They figured out it would not make any money and they changed the game. They might be working on pvp servers so standby. I wish people would stop trying to force people to play the way they do. The pvp your are looking for exists in many other games and they are considered griefer games because most of you pvpers will sit and blast low levels all day long and giggle about it because you think that is good game play.
I would recommend you to read my suggestion in the bonus section of my post: [Re-Imagining the Game Systems] The Holy Flexible Trinity and Immersive Territory PvP idea
Haha oh my word how can you unironically talk like that and not see how degrading and toxic that is? You’re talking out of your ass and making wild assumptions.
The fact of the matter is AGS have clearly stated that PvP is a big focus of this game while still catering to PvE players and doing quite well at catering to the PvE side I might add. Making suggestions regarding a clearly stated goal of the game is not being greedy or feeling like you deserve something.
However OP I do agree that the pulling a mob train to push you off a node trick is super annoying and your idea would work I don’t believe it’s going to happen with any existing territories. I also don’t believe any of the existing territories should be switched to forced PvP either as they were balanced around what we have now and you would effectively be taking content away from the PvE exclusive players. I do believe that in the future AGS will include a high level PvP only zone or two as the map gets bigger though.
If you read my post, it literally says in zones 40 or 50+ so end game zones… nothing like Windsward or Everfall… or even Brightwood. I don’t want the game to be full PVP because then that does open the door to those people who like beating on those lower level than them… i want PVP in areas where it’s endgame… when you’re farming T5 mats (Orichalcum, Wirefiber, ect.) it’s endgame, which means people may have to do something they generally dislike if they want the progression… I dislike dungeons… but if a piece of gear only dropped from there and i needed/wanted it… i would do it till i got it…
oh look, we have another person who didn’t read that helpful little popup that shows threads with the EXACT same asinine suggestion, or thought they were too special and had to have their own… oh they even added the bonus for wow and ff… dudes, i think they covered all the usual tripe! bonus points for lame lack of originality and actually suggesting something useful! gold star for your forehead.
why not come up with , oh i don’t know, something actually unique? like hmmm… pvp incentives for doing something… pvp?! it’s a shocking concept i know, but hear me out… forced pvp is a no go, period. the game is a fucking business and we pvp players are in the minority for the game style… suggesting yet again, the same crap, which will drive the majority away is bad for business. unless you want the game to fail worse beyond the current bugs and exploits… then hey you be you.
and… because it always comes up and seems to be some sort of defense for lack of imagination… yes, i have been putting in suggestions to improve pvp and pvp missions, and none of them require forced flagging, because i actually want to have fun pvp and for the game to you know… not die?!
As I said converting an existing territory wouldn’t accomplish anything but upset a lot of players. The game is clearly designed to allow both styles of play to be viable. There shouldn’t be any rescorces that are out of reach for PvE exclusive players and making all end game zones PvP would do just that. However in the future a properly implemented PvP territory that doesn’t have any main story quests or materials you can only get there would be cool and honestly I belive that will happen eventually.
As for the issue regarding kiting mobs over to people gathering rare resources I think we can come to a better solution that would work everywhere. Maybe have it so your aggro status to mobs can’t be changed while gathering a resource? So for instance if no mobs currently have aggro on you when you start harvesting they simply can’t aggro you until you’re done harvesting.
I played BDO for three years… games insanely pvp based and is still alive with i believe 50K plus active players. Im not saying this game has to mimic BDO in it’s agenda towards PVP… but having more of it in this game wouldn’t hurt and would solve a bunch of issues. I have a serious question for all you PVE players who apparently are so turned off by PvP that you won’t even consider it… why do you play this game? It’s not very PvE friendly? It lacks content, not very wide in the dungeon department… has no raids currently. I never understood it… what do you grind for? why do you make money? why do you get your water mark or your life skills… all of that is designed for you to either make money for gear or make your own… and once you’re geared… then what? you just stop playing? Like if you put in all that work why wouldn’t you want to PvP? See the fruits of your labor and test your skills against actual people? I’m being serious… this game doesn’t have good PvE… a lot of the end game zones are copy paste ffs… why are you playing? What are you working towards if not better gear to PVP with?
Why do you pvp?
reading hard? like seriously, here i point out i’m actively trying to improve pvp… and you decided i’m pve? the again you did make this post to had to probably more than a dozen or so saying the same shit.
as for other games? they don’t matter, and to answer your other silly questions why:
- it doesn’t matter what this game was 3 years ago, 2 years ago, or even the last two betas - it was sold and launched as PVX. this is what was advertised and what YOU and those who play PVX or PVE bought.
- in a PVX game, PVP can be optional, no where in the fine print does it say “oh hey once you hit 40 as a pve player, who doesn’t want to pvp at all, you will be resource and quest locked to PVP”.
- players have gotten to 60 without killing a thing, if that’s how they want to play, that’s their option. how each player chooses to play, whether they flag or not, is their choice and that’s the beauty of a PVX game. of course there’s downsides, but this isn’t about that.
- while quests and missions are lacking on both sides, there is actually a lot that appeals to pve players in this game. they love the crafting and exploration, and most take a longer view and aren’t rushing to 60.
- no incentives are going to improve OWPVP, especially not PVE ones. your idea isn’t even an incentive, it’s resource and quest locking behind PVP, it other words… forced pvp.
- an incentive is an extra reward to encourage something… all you’re offering is a way for PVP players to increase their body count and not actual pvp. those pve players who would end up flagging to gather/mine/fish/whatever, would end up not fighting back and dying, or running away… that’s not pvp, unless you’re like i said just adding a body count.
- PVE players choose not to pvp for a variety of reasons; lack of experience, they don’t like the anxiety, don’t like the behavor and verbal trash from some pvpers, they have pvped in the past and don’t have the patience to deal with the childish behavor of some, they don’t have the time to waste walking back to whatever they were doing… and the list goes on. it’s their choice the game is PVX, they don’t have to pvp period.
- the game is a business, businesses run on metrics… quest and resource locking previously open items with PVP is bad for metrics. we are the minority of players, PVE and PVX are the majority, driving them away is bad metrics. AGS hasn’t been afraid to toss the previous games. i kinda like this one despite the issues, i want to see it succeed, and it won’t if they close up shop.
