[Megathread] New World Update 1.5.6 Feedback

Greetings Adventurers,

We are creating a weekly thread in order to track feedback that popped up due to the most recent update, 1.5.6.

You can find resources on how to leave good feedback in the How to Give High Quality Feedback post.

You can find our Update 1.5.6 Bug Megathread here.

Your help in keeping feedback unrelated to the Update 1.5.6 out of this Megathread is much appreciated!

Thank you for helping make New World the best game it can be!

See you in Aeternum!

Need a system to Unbind gear. Every patch I get new BiS pieces and swap gear out. Old gear just sits in storage, and I would like to be able to unbind it it give to new players in company or friends.

Ways to fix Void Gauntlet to be usable by Healers:

Preface:
The biggest issue with the VG for healers as VG need to fuction as the primary weapon in order to be useful due to the Cooldown Reset Passive and the delayed trigger of Rupture. Rupture and Orb are the 2 primary Healing abilities and therefore the focus to make Healing work for the VG.

Issue 1: Rupture

Rupture has a 10 secs duration, and Overflowing Essence (Healing ability) only triggers at the end of that duration. Though there are many cases which stop Overflowing Essense from Triggering:

  • If your ally kills enemy before end of the duration, it does not trigger.
  • If you swap from VG to Lifestaff before end of the duration is does not trigger.
  • If you reapply Rupture due to Cooldown Reset abilities (e.g. Glimpse of the Void or Refreshing Rupture on PTR) it does not trigger.
  • Extended Suffering (VG passive) has Negative Synergy with Overflowing Essence, because if you extend the duration of Rupture you delay the healing of Overflowing Essence increasing the chance that is does not proc due to any of the above reasons.

There are too many scenarios that cause Overflowing Essence to not trigger, and this is one of the primary reasons VG is not well suited to Healers.

Possible Solutions:

  • Make Overflowing Essence trigger on Hit instead of at the end of duration. This will make Refreshing Rupture and Glimpse of the Void have a natural and logical purpose for the VG builds. It also removes the negative synergy between Extended Suffering and Overflowing Essence.
  • If you want to keep Overflowing Essence triggering at the end of duration, then the other solution would be to lower the duration of Rupture to like 4 secs (Max), while also lowering the mana cost and cooldown of Rupture. Ideally making Rupture a low cost spammable ability, and the reason you want to use VG as your primary weapon. You will still need to address the negative synergy between Extended Suffering and Overflowing Essence, by reworking Extended Suffering to do something different.

Issue 2: Little Reason to stay on VG

These is very little reason to stay on VG as your main weapon. Lifestaff has Blissful Touch with operates as the auto-attacking payoff for healers, while VG auto attacking benefit is self-heal and debuff extention (which has little benefit or negative synergy for a healing VG user). This is made worse by the recent nerf to Heavy Healing Paladin where self-sustain might have had a home.

Possible Solution:

  • Rework either Leeching Bolts or Extended Suffering to function or have a similiar effect to Blissful Touch of Lifestaff. i.e. a way for VG user to heal allies with Auto-attacks. Another option would be to mimic Mending Touch and allow VG healer to cleanse allies, but ultimate VG autos need some way to support the team and give you a reason to stay on the weapon and not just always switch back to your Life Staff.

Issue 3: Lack of 3rd Healing Skill

To heal with VG you have to use Orb and Rupture, but there is no 3rd healing skill. So ultimately you take Scream for defense/disengage, Oblivion for team support via buffing allies with Empower or Voidblade for ability to fight in a 1v1 scenario. Tether has no home on a VG healer, as it is single target and provides Empower and self-sustain (this is a PvE ability to kill brutes/bosses for a damage dealing VG).

Ultimately VG has too little healing overall, and there is only so much you can do with 2 skills. Some of the solutions mentioned above will assist here, such as lower CD/on-hit Overflowing Essence as well as a healing option on auto-attacks, but if some of the other abilities had an additional source of healing it would really pull this together and make VG a viable healing weapon.

Possible solutions:

  • Give Oblivion a healing tick, like a dark sacred ground. Or make Nullifying Oblivion cleanse allies debuffs instead of enemy buffs on activation if you have more FOCUS than INTELLIGENCE, so that it operates differently on healers than on mages.
  • Make Leeching Blade of Voidblade proc an AoE healing nova instead of only a self-heal.
  • Scream is already the most powerful ability on the Void Gauntlet, so I do not reccomend you change anything here. But if you want, you can Fortifying Echoes give the Fortify to allies around you as well (Like a Dark General’s Rally Call)
  • Literally just rework the entire Tether ability (Honestly you can do anything here, and it would be better than it currently is), but if nothing else move this to the Annihiliation Tree swapping it with Oblivion because Tether has no home on Decay tree (at least Oblvion has a DoT which “Decay” them over time).

Add Town Control Dynamics:

  • Add a 50+ Member limit requirement for companies to declare Wars, to limit shell companies.
  • Add a 3-day cooldown on joining companies if you left or/were kicked from a company. To prevent moving the same 50 people around constantly to declare. Reset this 3-day cooldown on server transfer as leaving is a mandatory action for this. (This adds planning and logistics to company movements and merges, while prevent shell company abuse)
  • Add a civic revolt tax/penalty (monetray penalty, fast downgrade during invasion, town board takes more to complete, etc.) to companies holding territories while thier membership is below 50 members. This depicts the denizen of the town revolting, and the town being unstable and easier to conquer.

Fortunately Overflowing Essence does proc even when you have your Life Staff out or another secondary, so that is some saving grace from an otherwise dysfunctional skill. Everything else Vulpix13 said is phenomenal and would make VG operate far better than its current iteration.

And I agree with you Khanzy, Nullifying Oblivion having an allied debuff clear would be really cool. I never have been that partial to Oblivion, from a supportive stance, but debuff clearing would absolutely make it a go to for PvP. Managing debuffs is just about as important as healing so long as you have the capacity to do it imo.

I think the most sensible approach to this would be to change the oblivion weapon perk to a passive, replacing the stamina regen perk and base that on INT/FOC bias. Which is already a theme on the weapon. And then push the stamina regen on oblivion as a weapon perk. You could then make a reasonable case for taking nullifying oblivion on your weapon. Whereas right now the options are too narrow. Everyones taking scream. Having this option might change that and create more build diversity in the process.

I’d really like cleanse pots added to OPR so we can practice. It’s such an important consumable with crucial timings and you get no practice currently unless you’re in the highest pressure moments.

Another request, bruiser input queing is extremely delayed compared to other weapons. If you combo too fast, the abilities just won’t go off. It’s most noticeable when you weapon swap into an ability.

I second this, they should standardize the comsumables in OPR and Wars, so that you can practise effectively.

It is so one sided when you are trying to practice war groups, but the enemy is using battle bread.
