I don’t need to voice my opinions on what we were told before and what we are now being told in regards to the regional transfers. Everyone above has already done that 100 times over and I’d simply be repeating their disappointments, that I too personally feel. So, I’ll just give a +1 to all of the above and say that - I hope you can sort it out, AGS. You’ve a wonderful game here but you’re seriously angering the playerbase. And it aint looking like a good start for the 1st game from your new studio and your reputation going forward into possible future projects.
So yea, +1 on the disappointment here.
On a separate, issue. One other thing that wasn’t made clear on your update both here on the forums and twitter, is what happens to our Territory Standings bonuses? Such as extra storage, bonus XP, tax discounts etc. should we choose to transfer?

I didn’t think anything would ever top the way blizzard mismanaged their wow classic servers, but AGS has smashed the previous world record. Truly insane decisions being made.
Hilariously low server population caps,
way too many servers due to panic creating dozens and dozens, almost all of which are now low pop (we’re talking 1k people online during prime time hours),
VERY strict transfer rules inhibiting people from joining with their friends that the above issues caused
The most important time in a game’s lifecycle is the first few weeks, especially in an MMO. They’ve botched it. Really sad to be honest.
So to be clear. We won’t be able to have the ability to transfer Region (even if it’s a 1 time thing) AT ALL in the future?
With the current information you have.
My friends and I are trying to decide if we should just start new on the desired region or hold out for hope of a REGION TRANSFER.
I would think this would be relatively easy. If you’re already able to change servers within a region I would think it would be as simple as copying the db entries over to the new server and modifying the same keys you are modifying already for changing the server within a region. Usernames are unique globally so I don’t think that would be an issue that would create a conflict.
It seems like very poor planning if the dbs were designed in such a way that prevented this. Are they not able to give specifics on exactly why they wouldn’t be able to “tag” a user to another server?
I work in IT so this is something I’ve dealt with many times and that’s never been an issue although I do understand that you’re going to be using a different structure than webapps.

I’ve had something similar. I’m also very curious on if this will be a option soon if ever with recent news on transfers. I’m currently playing on US-West, when my old guild/gaming group is US-East. I jumped to a medium pop US-West server for less q time and better ping. Understanding from the transfer message, ‘play anywhere now till we figure things out’ then head back to your friends with transfers.
Put a lot of time into a toon, that’s was in hopes to go back to whatever US-east server was going to be chosen.
Communicating GOALS is saying something along the lines of “We’ll have it available as soon as possible”. Giving a timeframe at all is not communicating goals it is setting an expectation.
Also saying that you didn’t know at the time, is not an excuse for failure to deliver on an other aspects either.
You communicated that you could transfer TO ANY SERVER. ANY.
That is not setting a goal. That is setting an expectation. It is your team’s job to meet that expectation. Not cop out with circumstance change.
If it “isn’t currently possible”, you make a system that makes it possible. You can’t say it is IMPOSSIBLE, because the data is moving between servers already, there is NO REASON that SAME DATA can’t transfer between regions. Would it take longer? Yes. Would it be a slower process? Yes. IS IT POSSIBLE? YES!
