you cannot transfer a character to a world set you have an existing one on, but it does not specify if you can transfer said existing within the same world leaving a single character in that world. The answer is too vague to answer the initial specific question.
To me, the wording of the given answer was understood as: if you have 1 character in server A and 1 character in server b, you cannot transfer the character in server B to be in the same world set that the character in server A is in.

As an EU player that deleted my character in EU after seeing the update about being able to exercise a server move to ‘any world ’ and subsequent twitter posts about moving regions, this is a mess for many that have done the same.
You cannot go back on the fact you made a mistake. I appreciate mistakes happen, but restricting the ability to move characters between regions when a point in time definitive instruction was made is really bad practice.
I appreciate that dumping player data in the same world set is possible due to the fact world sets are logical to one another, hence the tips about merging to provide player experience, though you need to honour region moves.
I and many others made a decision because of queue times to move regions with official updates on Twitter saying that this would not be an issue. A lot of us work, have families and cannot queue for 2-3 hours to play for 1-2 hours. That just isn’t feasible and makes the game inaccessible to play.
I am now permanently separated from my guild. They are on a full server in EU, i moved to US East on a low pop server. They’ll move in-region to address queue times, while i am stuck in US East at level 29. I am not going to invest time deleting a character, moving to EU. That is however my decision to not move, but from a user experience, purchaser of the game and a person with eyes who read updates from New World, which ultimately were not true and a mistake, is really, really, really poor.
I am not even asking for anything for free or complaining needlessly. I want to play with friends and i am solo in US East (US East has wonderful players actually, love the community over there) and i would happily pay $5 to region move and sacrifice my ‘free’ token for inter-region moves.
Amazon Games - you have the infrastructure in AWS, a team of great developers and the ability to solve this once and for all. You should have created more worlds in world sets globally at launch, it was poorly planned, ultimately poorly communicated with mistakes and false truths and it’s damaging.

You really don’t get to use the “our initial info was incorrect” excuse on this. Your original info impacted how thousands of people responded so the onus needs to be on you to figure out how to implement what you communicated. Do the right thing.

If this doesn’t have any impact on you, why are you on this thread constantly trying to downplay other peoples experiences? You act like everyone that was affected has to post here or they dont exist, i personally have 20+ people in my group that are impacted but I am the only one posting.
Went and checked your activity and all you do is post negative replies to peoples comments, perhaps you should seek some help to deal with whatever…

there are two ways the statement can be read… the way you read it or the other way some of us understood it. to me it reads you cannot transfer to a server you have an existing character on so say you have a character on World Set A and a character on World Set B…
I read it as: you cannot transfer the character from World Set B to World Set A as there is already a character there.
You read it as: You cannot transfer a character already in World Set A to another server in World Set A.
(clearly, you know how you understood it, but just to make the point of how vague the statement is for if/when it’s read by someone on the staff, they can further understand the confusion and maybe clarify)
And yet, after numerous questions about how this vague statement was intended to be read, there has been absolutely no clarification.
I made my character on the same worldset because common sense dictates it would be easier to transfer a character to another server in the same world set because… well… it’s the same damn worldset, but then again, common sense isn’t very common anymore, and companies will always do things the most convoluted way possible. lol

And again, you failed to answer the question, every single post in your activity is a negative reply to someone else trying to downplay their experience. I like many others, started a character on a different region after seeing the announcement that we’d be able to later transfer to play with our friends.
I understand that there is a limitation due to separate databases, but surely there is something that can be done. A lot of people would be happy to just have a plain character with all their levels, I couldn’t care less about my gear, storage, character model, or even name, I can get most of that all back quickly enough, but going through the quests and leveling all over again so soon after launch…no one wants to do that.
Even if it takes an extra two weeks for a solution, or even a month, I wouldn’t complain.
I didn’t, but I’m sure many people went as far as to take time off work to level their characters, and for all that to be for nothing would be a real slap in the face.

Unfortunately, all of negative comments in this topic are right.
Do not try to defend CMs or Developers. People asking for their TIME. That’s the most important one. They even did not let us to know about ‘how the system wil work’. Instead of promising or suggesting, they could tell us that they’re trying and there’s no exact answer for now. It was all silence that we only got after spending 1 week on the game.

Of course there will be negativity because the transfer was meant to be a solution, but in the end it isnt solving anything for the majority of people.
Cant transfer to a server with your friends if its full (EU is still mostly locked).
Cant transfer region.
So what is left is people on servers that want to move off because of queues which isn’t so much of an issue anymore
Can we expect some official statement, that moving from regions will, or not will be possible in future? In this topic someone from AGS said, they work on that feature for future. So what people, who want to change regions should do now, wait till that will be possible, or delete toon and start from 0 on other server? Thank you
Agreed! I just hit level 60 yesterday, then today I see their new post about not being able to transfer region servers (after being told we would be able to numerous times). I’d be fine just keeping my level and grinding for new gear!

I just want to play with my band of merry men when we started on different regions.
Same here, I live in the UK and couldn’t access any EU servers so I’m on US East with ping of 100-150 which Is difficult to play on and I’ve not even tried PvP for this reason!
We were told we could swap to ANY server, so you need to make this happen AGS.

Its disappointing indeed. And no fault of anyone but AGS. But there has been a precedent with playnewworld twitter and that is they are not a source of information. The twitter is simply a friendly face run by folks with next to zero information. They were given a few approved responses to a very short list of questions. The few times they speculated, they were often wrong. This being their biggest blunder by far. And it sure is a bad look

You havent supported anyone and any information you provided was not even related to this game, WoW is a different game that was developed 18 years ago. Other people have pointed out current MMOs that allow EU / US transfers all day every day. Other people knowledgeable on the topic of database management and database migration have already chimed in to say it is completely possible and easily accomplished should the tools exist and if the tools dont exist they wouldnt be difficult to create.
I get that it is not possible for you guys in the current state of transferring servers. But will you guy even offer anything to those who have had the displeasure of dropping 100+ hours (Like myself) on a character in a different region than the people we bought the game to play with. And now must start completely over. It very very hard to start over one something you have spent so much time on most of us have lives outside the game that make it hard to grind. I actually took a week off of work for this games release to get ahead of the curve as much as I could now I got back to work and realize I’ve wasted my entire vacation and it will take twice as long to get back to where I was. There has to be something. I’ve already created a ticket to support and I know you guys are backed up as is. But this is a lot of time wasted for a lot of players. I mean I know it would be a lot of work on the support side to make it work but what about offering small boosts for certain circumstances or large xp boosts or even the gold to just power level my character via the town board. I just done foresee myself enjoying the game nearly as much as I have been knowing I’ve wasted soo much time… Please

Why not make a reusable token, but with a time limit (7 days, for example)? If we don’t like it on the new server or there will be queues again, we would have the opportunity to switch to another server again.

as I said some hours ago, the solution for region transfer would be doing this manually, 1 by 1. Maybe is a lot of work but is better than the “separate database” excuse.
