Melee attacks'/skills' hitboxes should not extend behind the player/npc

I am farming the Weaponsmithing hat in light STR build, and both the tendrils and the mage’s melee attacks extend behind the npc. I am sick of getting knocked down by the tendrils’ slam when the tank is on the other side of it or taking damage so my extra diamond damage does not apply. I am 99% sure that the shield bash ability also has this issue where I am getting stunned behind the other player. I know there are more pvp examples of this that I sperged out about at the time, but I cannot remember.

These are just 3 examples, but I am sick of ignoring this. This is so common I would call it a game mechanic.
