Melee in 3vs3 arena no fun

Shield blocks musket well, gear matters at that level,
Lotta weapon combos are good, try different combos to see what you like, thats half the fun!

You’re probably just ungeared geared. S&S is super strong against ranged in arenas. You do need armor with 5 pieces of resilient, and a 625 weapon makes a big difference.

Sounds like you don’t have the right gear. It’s also possible you’re not using your weapons to their full potential. S+S is the counter to ranged weapons. You can block incoming attacks and go for a stun. Also where your teammates in all of this? They should be grabbing some attention so you can get in one of the rangers.

You’re playing one of the meta assassin builds and shouldn’t have to much of an issue punishing bow users.

You need 25%+ thrust resist and even then they will 3-4 shot you. Heavy attack + penetrating shot can almost break your block, you have to know when to dodge and block. This can be very difficult for a new player so just play easy mode range for now.

Currently 582GS on FSS and absolutely destroying ranged in arenas.

4x resil 3x ele aversion 17.5 thrust resist and 25% slash resist. SNS/GS.

Really recommend that you farm for Scorpio or shadow’s edge.

Arenas and duels are contents where you skill and knowledge about enemies build really matter, if you dont know how to counter it or what he can do with this build you have problem. No Arenas are fun, but you must practice don’t expect you will go there first time and win against guy who has 400+ arenas won.

Just keep practising and dont give up. I recommend to play opr to get to max expertise and some combat knowledge. Then jump into arenas. I played today with 2 fresh lvl60 guys and had to carry them. Did x10times more dmg than both of them combined. Told them to keep killing monsters and learn the game. Good luck

Thank you, I decided to stick with my melee build SnS/Hatchet wich I enjoy most. I try to get better gear in genesis and some chest trains.

Also try to get better at blocking, timing rolls and overall game awareness.

You are right I just feel so useless just some target dummy. Guess I have to get gud

Where do I farm those?

A lot of times when i block or roll I run out of stamina which normally means Iam dead in the water

Thank you, I will stick to my build wich I live most and try to get better

Just play it… learn to positioning, learn how to select skills in each situations… also use balsams and powders those 35% and 7% honing stone for arena you need only 1 they are limitless there.

Yeah, you spend hours running PVE content so you can finally enjoy some PVP content. You then realise that you need to do hours more PVE content to get the gear to make you competitive in PVP content.

Basically, New World PVP is the worst! imagine if you told a PVE player they needed to engage in a minimum of 500 hours PVP content before they could do their PVE content.

The developers of New World are mental! Really!

It’s an MMORPG. If you just want to play PvP there are plenty of other genres for you like MOBA and battle royal. Besides you don’t need 500 hours of PvE to do well in PvP. The money you earn by leveling to 60 alone is probably enough to get solid 2 perk gear. Weapons etc. you can get via PvP.

That’s total nonsense!

That’s the equivalent of me saying it’s an MMORPG, you don’t need quests, for that type of gameplay you can enjoy a single-player RPG! If you can’t understand the difference between an MMO and MOBA’s then you are beyond understanding PVP players.

An MMO is an amalgamation of three core mechanics, PVE, PVP and RPG in an open-world setting. Sure, some MMO’s might specialise in one or two of these areas, but by doing so become more of a niche game such as Mortal Online.
It’s true that some players won’t engage in PVP, so most games get around this by creating PVE servers where they remove the ability for players to engage in combat with each other. This was New Worlds first mistake, by including an on/off toggle for PVP in the hope that PVP players would just find each other they ensured that open-world PVP is all but non-existent. Such small servers further exacerbate this issue and even though PVP players have tirelessly requested PVP servers these requests have been ignored, and this all runs contrary to the original vision of New World.

A ‘solid 2 perk gear set’ is not competitive. You will get slaughtered by anyone with even just a little skill, particularly if you are a new player a year into a game with little to no added content.

The issue I was pointing out is that in order to get the best gear for PVP you need to do PVE content, hours upon hours of it. That’s just bad design and this is why World of Warcraft absolutely dominated the MMO market for a time. There was once a time when Blizzard understood their player base and just generally the MMO player base. It’s so simple too, it’s amazing that developers are blind to it. But I will explain it:

PVE players worked to get their gear by doing PVE content, starting with questing, running dungeons then harder elite dungeons then raids. From level 10 you could quite literally just pug dungeon finder over and over and level a character all the way to 80 and you would have great gear.

PVP players worked to get their gear from doing PVP such as arenas or battlegrounds. PVP players could literally pug PVP and level from 10 through to 80 and have great gear.

RPG players had a world full of lore to explore and don’t really know what else you can do for them. Maybe more emotes and interactive stuff.

It’s a novel idea, rewarding players for doing the content they want to do rather than placing everything in chests all over the place in elite PVE zones. Imagine the outcry if PVE players had to run battlegrounds to get orbs so they could enter dungeons. Why is it different for PVP players?

and you are right, there are plenty of other genres for PVP, personally, my PVP time in New World is at a solid 0% (except one run each day) and I instead use my PVP time playing Chivalry 2 and as a result, since my first £30 purchase of New World, I have put exactly £0 money into New World. Who is that good for? and while at the present time I can’t think of another MMO I’d rather play as soon as one comes, I’m gone, like so many people.

Idk where people have this idea from “oh just fk that part of the playerbase if they don’t like Endgame PvE for hundred hours”.

It’s like. Yea, I can grasp that notion that some people want to force PvE in a MMORPG. Since that’s usually the main selling point of those right.

But then on the same it’s 2022 lol. Why would you maybe lose a 10% of the playerbase just for messing them up. And if you wanna argue it’s not 10%. Then 1%. All of those populations matter. And some main PvE’rs would maybe actually enjoy pvp more if it would be rewarding.

Most people aren’t either this or that. Most of PvP’ers also do a lot of PvE. But many of us aren’t fond of the idea to be forced to do mainly PvE just to enjoy PvP.

It’s same like some PvE’rs got mad about the gypsums from PvP lol. Difference is you have a ton of options to get stuff from PvE fast enough.

While PvP rewards for PvP are simply not fast enough.
If I play daily I need around 3 months to get a full gearset up.

SO I’d have to play 3 months just START enjoying my gearset I wanna tryout now.
It’s too much. While what. Less than a week of PvE will give you a full gearset to the max.

So now you can “oh, see it doesn’t take long”.
Yea but just as people wouldn’t wanna play 25 OPR maybe in a week. Let’s say you’d HAVE to win for any rewards.
And now we have to run 25 m10’s while also preparing gear for that.

Maybe with cross server queues this would be better. But after 3-4runs I’ve just enough of sitting, waiting, and then some weirdass guy is salty in the run cause someone got yeeted by sth. And then repeat that for weeks on end till I finally have 3 ward sets so I can get 300-600k shards to play around in PvP.

And no, 600gear isn’t enough.

Not at all. Equivalent would be: if you don’t like other players running around while you are questing and exploring the world, go play a single player RPG.

The game is not competitive itself, there are no rated arenas or battlegrounds. Saying you get slaughtered by 3 perk armor is one of the biggest bs statements. 5x 3th perk gives you 15% cd reduction or 55% freedom or some weapon perks. That’s not a major difference also most people you will encounter won’t have 5 bis armor pieces. I’m not running full 3 perk armor as well and I never get slaughtered.

This is the way it should be in an MMORPG. You should also have to do some PvP to get items which can be relevant for PvE. If you don’t like that, you might be at a little disadvantage.

You can get the best PvP gear through PvP track and OPR chests. If you want it right away, yes, you gonna have to farm gold. But you can easily pay below 50k for a whole gear set and dominate OPR/arena.

Already some great suggestions here, Ill try and add to but by no means am I a professional. I also run SnS for PvP, I stick to heavy armor and the tower shield so I am the odd ball out. My secondary is the WH and I do quite well in 3v3 with many wins being me 1v3 or 1v2 and pulling the W out. Ranged can be annoying in OPR but 3v3 they have no where to go and you have giant pillars to use. You NEED to run 5 resil on your gear, if you arent, they will shred you. You should be popping T5 food, honing stone, and having T5 health and regen pots on your hot bar plus Oak Balm at a minimum. They are unlimited in 3v3 so you need to use them. Do NOT use Leaping Strike to engage, it is used for chase when they realize they done fucked up. The slow and dmg it does from hitting someone in the back is amazing and can be immediately followed up with shield bash. If you are using whirling blade, you are trolling. Back stab can be great, leaping strike into shield bash into a free backstab to finish someone off. Play the time, there have been countless times I have been 1v2 against bow users and I played time until the fire circle started closing in. I just kite, use health and regen pots sparingly to keep me alive. Once the fire starts closing, they are now in your world, they cant run as the arena is just to small. People want to hold W and drool on their keyboards in 3v3 and you cant play that way in every situation. Hope this helps a bit
