The problem with wars is being able to MERC people out. It makes it so you don’t have to work on your company and get better when you can MERC out so heavy. Why do the devs think its not the same people in every war? It makes it so new or not very good companies take territories from decent companies. Losing to MERC players destroys companies over and over. If you cant field a roster of 50 why do you think you should own a territory? If there were no MERC the game would be in a much better state. it’s a silly mechanic that makes companies breakup and makes players quit the game over and over. Noone wants to have to fight the same 15 or 25 (about to be 40?!) best players over and over. When was the last time ANY of the devs played in a war? What a joke of a game mechanic.

There is a lot of issues in wars that make it not enjoyable. Power differentials from the third perk, and skill provide a massive effect in making wars snowball ish. Mercs using such situations really do damage the situation, but its because they often make up those players that have exceptional skill and power gains.
To make them less powerful, we need mechanics in the game like reforging perks, so people who have less gold can more easily fight that uphill battle.
I believe that people should be able to que specifically into wars as a factionless merc (fourth entity) but should not be able to conquer zones. So white + yellow, or white+green, but no more green + yellow. I believe that the players should also be factionless, and only be part of a faction when they join a company, making the companies choose a faction, not the players. This solves a lot of problems most importantly with people finding a new home when in need, which i believe is the main cause of decline in dau/mau (daily/month active users).
I think mercing itself is not really an issue and provide faster more frequent options for wars. That being said it would be better if we could fight multiple wars in a single invul-period, instead of one. Wars are just not common enough. Having more wars will also limit this issue, and having a cap on mercs allowed will help it, but not invalidate that form of war-gameplay.
at MOST you can get 25 merc’s. so if they can ONLY take a teri with half a merc roster they will lose it directly after, not a huge issue.
I have been considering some sort of resource system for companies lately, it may fight such a situation.
MERCS mean less wars not more. Noone wants to make a war ready company try to get good enough to take a territory and then defend it when you know you can MERC out the same 25 people in ever war instead. It’s not like its different MERCS in each war. It’s the same people over and over. it makes companies lose people, quit the game and or breakup after ever heavy MERC out war instead of trying to make there roster stronger. With you only being able attack and defend once a day you will be able to take territories from companies that have multiple territories anyways without having to merc out. People that MERC ever war have more then one account and don’t have to have to be in the company to war with said company making it unfair to people that only havening one account and one company. Making a snowball effect that its the same mercs in EVERY war over and over. The game doesn’t respect companies that don’t merc out to the same people that are in ever war. Making a lot less wars and make people quit the game. Making the dwindling player base even smaller. That in turn snowballs into even less people that want to get into wars have a chance since its fewer and fewer companies that war each week.
it takes a lot of time and effect to push a territory and “try” to get a deck on a territory. You can have your company push for hours and not even get the deck on a territory that you just lost to mercs. it takes days to even get another chance at taking your spot back and to lose it again and again to the same 25 people??? Don’t see how mercs are a issue??? It’s a gorse system that needs to be changed if New World has a chance to succeed in the future.

Some people have played new world and still haven’t ever been in a war
even with mercs, it’s still very gate-kept
I am totaly against WAR in New World, it totaly divide people with Company and can t never do WAR …
Reasons :
-not their friends
-not in their company
-not meta build
-not role needed
-mercs take your spot
I do think they should stop the WAR content and find a way for Faction Control instead company control !
Invasions gameplay is the same way, how many time i know someone that got kicked of an invasion to take their friends in …
System should always chose who could do WAR and INVASIONS all the time !
Find a way to change the game mechanism ! Oh that was not an order, just way to express my feeling ![]()
