Mini Map & HUD Customization

The game is in desperate need of some quality of life changes, two of the biggest that I can see lacking are a mini map and HUD customization. I use a 1440p monitor and while the chat can be resized down to a smaller text appropriate for my monitor, the quest tracker and all other HUD elements are massive and I’d like the ability to at least resize all HUD elements independently. Optimally it’d be nice to be able to not only resize elements but move them around independently, akin to how FFXIV does it.

Additionally, it’s kind of a massive oversight that the map is not only slow and buggy, but that there isn’t a full-featured mini map for the game. Surely there was playtesting feedback that said pressing ‘M’ repeatedly to open and close, open and close, open and close the map just to make sure you’re on the right road to where you need to go was bad design choice.

These are a couple basic things implemented well in the competing titles like World of Warcraft or FFXIV that are sorely lacking in this title and would make a world of difference in-terms of quality of life. I know the wide masses would all agree about HUD customization, and if someone wouldn’t want the mini map for whatever reason it could be as simple as a checkbox setting in their gameplay options.

Thanks!

Any reason against those changes? I can’t see how they’d make your QoL worse.

I would like to display discovered ressources on the map.

EDIT
With filters and checkboxes to show and hide them.

They’re fine, stop being so indulged

I do enjoy the “colonial” aspect of the game. as they would use compasses to generally find there bearings. It also is very unique for the same reason.

Realistically you wouldn’t know something was close until you were pretty close, and that implementation is pretty neat.

a mini-map would be nice, but throws off the above nostalgia. Tho on the other hand, having the ability in the actual map menu to search for certain things would be a QoL update.

in the mean time, there is a site that has an interactive map for just about everything here

I know about these maps in the internet, but i don’t want to be spoilerd where the nodes are. I want them only to show up on map when I discovered them.

Unfortunately there is only the “full blown node reveal interactive maps” option or the “get surprised by traveling the entire map” option for now

It would be a QoL update for node tracking on map, but due to it just being a visual QoL probably will take a while before it is ‘considered’ given the plans AGS has for the next while and holidays.

true

as for HUD changes, yeah it would be nice to not have a wall of text that takes up 1/4 of my screen.
I don’t think they have plans to release the ability to implement addons that change these features yet. but would be nice to move things to adapt more to my playstyle and liking.

Why should I be satisfied with an inferior product when all other contemporaries offer more customization?

When I’m talking about a mini map I’m talking about something really low impact to the core game, something akin to Diablo 2 how it’s only real purpose was to keep track of the road you’re on and that’s the main use I’d want it for because of my constant opening and closing of the map to make sure I’m still on that road I think I am. IDK it might just be me but it’s kind-of easy to get lost in the map considering how big it is / how long it takes to traverse.

Yeah again this is sorta what I’m talking about, just having more options afforded to us to tweak the game to our level of enjoyment. I see now instance in which that’s a bad thing, y’know? If you don’t want any of these changes, you shouldn’t be forced to use them, but accessibility is a huge aspect of the MMO genre for me.
