The community seems divided with their opinions on mining luck. Some of us are getting diddly squat whilst some of us are having legendary mats raining into our inventories like candy.
RNG is RNG but there’s plenty of tinfoil hat theories out there like adored mining luck amulets being busted and causing a negative effect but who knows, perhaps they could hold some truth.
Personally I fall into the first camp, I’ve done a lot of mining and I’m yet to see a void ore and I rarely see any cinnabar or tolvium despite wearing very good mining luck gear.
Let’s share our experiences and perhaps we can spot a pattern as to why some of us have consistent good luck and some of us have consistent bad luck.
Im not gonna fill it out fully as it was pre pvp luck
But with a total of about 32000 luck bonus (roughly 32% total) i gained 1 void ore in 24 hours of mining, 30 cinnabar and maybe 30 tolvium, there was deffinetly no patterns at all over the daily mining periods.
Then a friend of mine went out on his first day on a new server roughly the same amount of luck (give or take 100 points) he mined for 5 hours got 5 void ores, 13 tolvium and 3 cinnabar.
(I cant give proper % because i dont remember what i have or what he hhad xD)
5% all gear
8% mining pick
2000 food
9% amulet
30% pvp
15% from 3 x minor trophies
2000 points from lvl 200 mining
I’ve mined and recorded 5k ore so far this patch, I can tell you the drop rate is roughly the same as last patch both with and without amulet.
It is purely RNG. There’s no certain times of day that’s better than others etc.
With 127% luck, it’s a 12.7% chance to roll a legendary mat from ori (tolv or cinn)
If you’re lucky enough to get one of those, you roll the dice again for void ore, with another 12.7% chance of rolling.
All up, you have about 0.3% chance to roll void ore on each node.
I got 2 void ore in 35 minutes tonight. Only 1 void ore 2 nights ago in 4 hours. No gear changed etc.
Its purely rng. Anyone who says amulet
Is broken has nothing to substantiate it.
Imagine an 100 sided die, and you have to roll 13 or lower to get a legendary drop, the chance is there, but it’s slim. Imagine rolling it twice in a row and that number drops dramatically. It might average out to be 13 times in 100 you roll it, but only over say 5000 rolls.
Plenty of people can say I got 5 in a day, well, now go do that everyday for 100 days. Then tell me your results… I can guarentee you won’t get 5 a day everyday. It’s called luck for a reason.
I created the post as my drop rate for Tolvium & Cinnabar has been utterly horrendous despite having very high mining luck. I’m not that bothered about Void Ore’s as I’m aware the drop rate of those is extremely low anyway.
It reached a point where I feel something may be contributing to my horrible luck. After seeing others with a similar experience, I wanted to see some actual data to compare.
What tipped me over the edge was over the past few days I’ve been skinning & logging with less than optimal gear and my results have been fantastic, getting large amounts of legendary materials at a consistent rate no matter how often I run the routes. Compared to my mining luck the difference is night and day.
Whilst I don’t believe theories such as the mining amulet being busted, I am open to believing perhaps there’s an optimal luck % range to be in and if exceeding it perhaps that is causing issues with getting the legendary drops as often. Removing the amulet may be putting people into this optimal range (if it even exists, which it probably doesn’t but that’s why I am trying to gather data from people to see if we can spot any similarities).
Thank you for this! It’s one thing to have a few dry runs and then have some good rng go your way, but I feel like the unluckiest person ever since the update. Will do some more test runs today and update along with my tests I ran last night.
