More Lag spots unfortunately

I didn’t think it was possible, but there’s a lot more Lag spots with the new update.

Not everyone has super fast internet, and if you don’t, then unfortunately you lag out of game every time you port to town, or get close to a town, or get near an Expedition, or get near a border, or fast travel anywhere, or porting to War/Invas/OPR, or have too many different items in your bank, or just certain spots of the map that are configured to load the next section of the map.

Then you have to wait 90 secs for your session to time out because you can’t log back into the session because it’s a hung lagged session, and apparently the AWS session reliability settings are garbage.

It’s so frustrating, but you learn where the spots are to avoid.

Unfortunately, seems like there’s a lot more of these lag spots. I can’t even pvp anymore. I can’t even do a Mines/Myrk run without hitting at least 3 diff lag spots.

I get it that it’s not up to game makers to cater to rural areas, but come on. Surely there is a way to break up the layers loading into more modular chunks… Then at least it wouldn’t be a big data dump at once, which lags out the session, and then I have zero chance of recovering from it.

At this point, I guess I’m just going to have to give up the game for a while because I’ll be lucky if Starlink gets to our area by next summer. Here’s hoping the game still exists then.

This really sucks too because I love tis game, and have put in a LOT of time (almost max crafting and HWM).

Hello @EvilEmpire.

If it is possible please add to this post pics of the ‘‘Lag spots’’.

Thanks for your comments, we are working to reduce lag on all servers,

See you in Aeternum!!

Here’s an example of Shatter Mountain pic. The two orange lag spots on the left and top center are new to the latest patch. The two on the far right near the border and towards the top have been there since go-live (wasn’t there in first Beta, not sure about 2nd one).

I haven’t been all over Shatter Mtn to all areas. So not sure if there are others. I’m sure I could document spots in most all of the zones, but I’m confident the Devs know what it is they’re loading.

A good example of optimization that worked was when they re-vamped the Trading Post. It used to be that I could pretty much never use the TP (unless sometimes I could do a trick where I open and close it instantly about 10-12 times, and eventually I could open it). It works pretty solid now unless I’m in a town where I have lots of diff item types in my bank (if limited bank, TP loads first try). So I don’t know what they did to optimize it, but I presume they structured the code to load differently. What ever they did, really helped. Now if only they could apply the same technique to the map/town layers when they load…

Hey, mate. I know this is prob all old news by now and maybe nothing can be done, but weirdly, gf created a new char on the Yaxche server and thus far has not lagged out at all. Even running to known ‘lag spots’, the issue did not occur on that server.

So, with that being said, we’re wanting to transfer over there so we can actually play (we’ve kind of given up and semi-quit for a bit to help our sanity).

Unfortunately, we have already used our free server transfer token to get to this Ohonoo server. Is there any ETA on when Transfer Tokens would be available for purchase or whatever? We want to move to this Yaxche server so we can get back to enjoying the game.

Not sure why this other server doesn’t seem to have any lag issues. I presume because it’s a much smaller population, but that kind of doesn’t make much sense because even in my screenshot of Shatter Mtn, those spots shouldn’t have anything to do with pop size. It’s also possible that if we move our chars over, maybe it has something to do with our chars/inventory/banks, etc or something that contributes to the lag spots (also doesn’t seem logical), but at this point, it’s worth a shot because if I could play this game without lagging out all of the time in certain spots or every single time I port to anywhere, that would be amazing.

Please help…if we can’t buy the tokens now, is there anywhere to plead our case and get a token issued to us? I logged in for the first time in a week because I honestly just couldn’t take it anymore, but this new server gives me hope that I might be able to enjoy the game again since it’ll prob be summer before we get good internet in this rural area.

Please, mate…at least try for us.
