i’m saddened to hear this happening ESPECIALLY due to the term being used. isn’t that an automatic ban for streamers on twitch? amazon owns twitch, no? i have seen things and things like what you’re describing first- and second-hand.
the servers are mini communities and even when most get along, it’s already difficult to do what you want to do (within reason) in the game. my fresh start server doesn’t kill the winter warrior anymore after the first few days, expeditions lacking and depend on skill and gear, there’s constant recruitment/global cries for opr and 3v3s…people are slowly just giving up. i digress.
if unchecked, harassment/abuse echo throughout the community and negatively affect the way those being harassed/abused, and even passive players enjoy the game. to access the end game content of wars, expeditions, and arenas, a player has to be an accepted part of the community. it is too easy for mob mentality and “content” creation to get out of hand and unfairly label a player - effectively excommunicating them.
i have heard it through the grapevine that reports in the game need at least 10 unique reports for it to even get on a GM’s list. the ones with upwards of 200 unique reports are the ones getting the attention first. whether or not this is true, there is another way to report offenders:
the form doesn’t have unlimited characters so state your concerns efficiently.
also, the form has a space for submitting links to screenshots and videos. steam’s default screenshot button is F12, and you can easily privately host them on imgur. videos/clips (not through steam) have a few more steps, but generally not inaccessible.
in regards to social media involvement, i don’t think AGS would be able to post who they ban. the same negative social reactions that lead to this could also be turned on the offenders. and though they should be punished, everyone should be treated just and fair.
maybe AGS could make a more detailed post about how their reporting systems work. a better understanding of the intentions and efforts made (actual numbers!) by AGS to keep their game community healthy would help players make better informed decisions of where to spend their time and money.
