You and those like yourself have every reason to stay and give constructive feedback on what you don’t like about the game. Please continue to do so.
It’s those who post inane topics that are abusive, insulting and personal attacks on the staff that contribute absolutely nothing that put you in this bad light, I will agree comparing the two as the same is not really fair.
On the plus side, whenever the fighting memes are in circulation, it’s always Boomers vs. Millennials and we can just sit on the sidelines and enjoy the popcorn.
The people who call the community toxic are the ones who are toxic to the community.
The people who demand rules are obeyed, then proceed to break every rule themselves.
Ban them they cry. Maybe we should.
Anyone who generalises that everyone is toxic. Should be banned.
Call out an individual, make your argument sure. But don’t judge everyone, 99.99% of whom you have never met and then generously insult them.
On my server people are great, we chat and talk, help and support. Sure there’s sometimes hot discussions, they boil over and explode… but that isn’t being toxic, that’s just anger over a perceived issue, usually a misunderstanding.
You cannot accuse people of all being toxic, that is general slander. It is being toxic. Sometimes someone makes an ignorant statement, you explain the reality to that one person and then everyone just moves on to the next subject. That’s how life works. You spend alot of time explaining… entire books of explaining, because being polite and resolving issues, helping people is who we actually are. Being able to look across a room and take in all the details, good and bad is not being toxic. Pointing out truths seen by yourself, is not being toxic. Explaining them to the community is not toxic.
Toxic is making demands on the entire community.
Toxic is demanding bans.
Toxic is being impolite.
Yes there are some toxic people… but to accuse everyone… is much worse.
Here’s the thing, Player bases of this or most any game aren’t toxic. Most people who play the game behave and act just like they do if you met them face to face. Overall nice and respectful.
On the other hand, the small minority of the player base who come to forums are what is generally toxic. Forums themselves in this and other games have gotten absolutely horrid in the last half decade or so with rudeness, condensation, and trolling (not at all surprising considering we have “leaders” and media figures normalizing this behavior) .
Quite frankly if I was developing a game, I’d probably not have a forum. I’d either have just a feedback section other players couldn’t see, or barring that make every comment be anyonmous.
Forum hive mind can kill a game.
I’d also be copyright striking and banning youtubers game accounts from the game if they delved into opinion as opposed to how to…. Youtubers are a modern gaming cancer as well.
I hear ya, I’m a Gen X’er and gaming has become similar to American Politics, very partisan. Back in the 80’s and 90’s we didn’t know what in the world we were doing, and all laughed and played together sharing the awe and joys of computer gaming. These days its a constant argument and cesspool of complaints that consume gigs of space on some poor storage appliance in a datacenter of anger and hate. Everyone needs to chill out and just take a step back, breath and enjoy the games you play, build relationships online and make each other laugh, cry, be sad and happy together playing the same games.
Jason, ignore the hate, ignore the replies where very upset and emotionally charged people rip apart your posts. Just keep playing with a smile, keep making those memories with your friends and families and continue to Game the right way!
