Really simple: I should be able to make multiple characters on the same server. Why? Simple:
I love my server and the people in my faction
I want to make a second character so I can try a radically different playstyle without having to constantly switch between attribute points and storing a second set of gear
Answer: let me make a second character on my same server
Your concern: But servers are overpopulated!
My answer: I can’t play two characters at once dummy, it doesn’t actually change server population
Your concern: but you could spy on other factions!
My answer: obviously force me to pick a faction that is shared on all characters
Your concern: people would abuse this by making “bank alts” for extra storage space
My answer: there is currently no way to transfer items between two characters you own. Don’t add one… Also you don’t have to let me make 10 characters. Just two…
i agree on all points. i would like to play dex based build, and con/heavy armor build (depends on what i feel like that day)
regarding bank alts. I would like shared storage between all character on same server. i.e. you don’t gain extra storage on extra alt. maybe carry weight but it really not adding much even if we do
I’d be in favor of shared storage. Baseline storage limit might need a slight bump as I know some people already struggle with the limit for just 1 character, but the idea works for me. I like the idea of your characters being part of a family or something. Shared housing. Shared storage.
Fully agree on all points. I want a ranged dex character and a CC/Tank specced strength based character. I don’t mind taking the time to level both. I would much rather have these “role” based characters than having to respec/re-equip everytime I want to do something different. Many people came from other large MMOs that we enjoy having alts on. Please don’t deny us this. Like has been said above, it will not affect server population as we can only login one at a time.
I’d love to see this coming. I play with a bunch of friends who don’t have as much time for the game as I have. In every other MMO I just created another alt, played that one when the others weren’t there and in the end I could chose if I wanted to play this or that or whatever was needed. Here I struggle with pacing myself so my friends can keep up. Doesn’t feel good. And I can’t understand why this was done, we’re not in the 90s anymore…

My main char is a man tank with heavy armor. I have a lot of fun when I play in group content, but when I go solo, it’s a little boring after 45 lvl’s. Futhermore I have friends who don’t have as much free time as me so they just play on weekend. So I would love to have a lowbie alter to play with them. A mage woman, with light armor, and change completely my playstyle, but still being in my server with my guildies & friends.
I don’t mind leveling an alter, because I don’t want to be switching every five minutes attributes, gear with my main…
+1 I rollpaying with my melee character, but I play as a healer PvP. Im on lvl 30 now, but everytime when I change my stats the respec goes up. Now its 180 gold. So change to healer and back to melee cost 360 gold. And its going up everytime! Terrible game mechanic. Now i reach the point where I cant play my lovely healer because its cost too much for me.
As @Daydreamer said, I would love to have the option to add another char on my server. I am currently 47 but one of my friends just started. Would love to go through the same quests together with him and would try a completely different playstyle. As it is today, its just not the same, for him its boring to see NPCs getting one shot and for me its just trying to boost him as fast as possible to my lvl, which is not the intention of this game I hope
+1 from me too. Either have multiple characters, or allow for some kind of multiple load out of the 1 character (similar to FFXIV’s system perhaps?). I’m currently levelling as a healer, and my focus stat is completely useless for all other weapons. I’d love to have a DPS or tank build as well.
they will most likely force people to go other factions in the future once they realize most servers are dominated by one faction. if that happens people could make dozens of alts and place them in the dead factions and manipulate faction balance further
I want multiple characters on the same server, too. My gaming thrill comes from leveling, crafting and exploration. I make alts in every game I play. I love to try out different roles with different characters. I don’t PvP, so the spying issue is not a factor with me.
Without the ability to make alts, craft for them and level them, I doubt I’ll be sticking around for long. People enjoy different play styles — some love PvP, others prefer dungeons and raids. Still others are wrapped up in playing the markets and making lots of in-game money. I believe games are more successful and long-lasting when they allow us all to pursue our favorite gaming style.
i did read somwhere that you can have 300 territory standing points in every zone and if that is the case then we just need to grinde in the zone to increse the storage more and more
This isn’t an issue - they just count faction population based on players not based on characters. Since I can’t play multiple characters at the same time (unless I have multiple accounts which can happen now already) there is no point in counting all of my characters as separate faction members if I’m forced to have all of my characters stay at the same faction.
