Musket - buff damage from dex, disable int scaling

Hey guys,

I know a musket is a sensitive topic but I’d like to share my perspective. Now, only viable way to play a musket is 300 dex, 150 int and 50 con with rapier to do damage but when I started to play a game I didn’t know that. I played pure dex, con with musket and spear with medium armor and… had a lot of fun. Musket was my secondary weapon to hit people from afar and soften them up before switching to spear and it worked pretty well. Ofc I changed my mind after going to first opr at lvl 60 and when I saw my 1k hits on people xD

Im not sure how to balance this weapon, I’ll leave that to people who know musket better than me but what would you guys say if we could pair musket with weapons other than musket? Spear, hatchet, maybe even greatsword to make a hybrid build who use ranged tactically if situation requires it and play like 50% ranged/50% melee? To achieve this I think musket would require damage increase from dex and disable int. Maybe less damage than now with 300 dex and 150 int but higher than pure dex which is unplayable.

It’s balanced the way it is…for the most part.

Nerf Mortal Empowerment and make it a little more difficult to shoot at a distance (2x zoom instead of 3x zoom, would be a solid nerf for starters).

Also get rid of hitscan (still say I’ll do better without it, and so would many others :rofl:)

I’m fine with running no more than 50 con to be relevant.

But its basically only 1 build with a musket. If you want to use it you go light with int, nothing else. Removing int and buffing dex can open new playstyles :slight_smile:

Nope. Musket needs many nerfs no buffs

I will give it an hour before a musket player comes in to say that it needs buff and not nerf.

Essentally, for Musket to work and be able to compete in standard PvP scenarios you need to run either glasscannon 5 con or 50 con. Anything with more constituion 100+ con is going to net you damage numbers between 1k-1.5k (on dudes with 11k-13k hp) and you’re not “killing” anybody that’s not AFK.

So yeah, don’t listen to these non-musket players. Musket needs a REWORK

Oh yeah, look at this greatsword gameplay, easiest 3 kills with barely ANY effort. Melee is so OP this patch I hope they balance it with ranged more. (The noobs that can’t deal with ranged dps just need to get good PERIOD)

Yeah. I tried to run 300 dex with a musket (without int, around 600gs) and the dps was so low I doubted I could even kill afk in time… hits for 1000 damage, sometimes even less. People usually could outheal shooter stance with 1 potion xD if I even hit 5/5 shots.

Musket is not viable for high con builds, simply because the weapon only fully supports long-ranged gameplay.

(2 second base reload time) - 6 second cooldown on tactical reload for the extra shot.

Reloading every 2 seconds in any close range fight is a recipe for disaster, might as well salvage your musket or never really pull it out and just go with rapier lmao.
