Grace tree is still ok to use. Its just not as much of an escape stick as it used to be. Simple.
Yikes… why are we even discussing this change? It was long overdue and its good. Now you need to have at least some degree of hands in order to utilize grace tree escape capabilities. Unlike before when you could elbow your keyboard to fix shitty positioning.

My man, i’ve playing musket and rapier almost from start of my playthrough and i tell you it’s just all mental of being “glass cannon” “i must deal 5k dmg per shot or else i am noob”. I am playing Musket & Rapier on medium, 160con 163dex and 150 int and i have no trouble dealing mediocore-high damage and being strong enough to take 1v1 close quater combat. Simply most of people just choose to be only “useful” on high range, so they are sacroficing all survivability for damage and were cheesing every opponent with rapier, which as stated by devs, was supposed to be quick melee weapon and not tool to escape. And all you had to do is to give up some damage to be more versatile in close range fights

As a musket main since day one I can tell you that I am doing just fine with this rapier nerf. It has killed movement for healers making them easier to kill. So if you really think about it, it’s just another musket buff.
You know something is broken when there’s a dogpile 20v20 purple vs green going on in a fort, and a single yellow bow/rapier starts pelting everyone from above.
Full stop, every single person in that fort just stops what they are doing and dogpiles the yellow, because they are yellow of course. And que the benny hill music, as they jump down, and run back up the stairs with 40 people blasting at them. Over and over.
I’m glad they adjusted it, in the right hands it was beyond broken and everyone knew it.
Rapier is our only dual attribute weapon for musket. While bruisers have sword and shield, wh,ga,great sword, spear, etc.
Musket needs a weapon (dual blade) that scales well with it, that isn’t just 1 weapon.
The way AGS designed musket is literally for musket use only without rapier.
Musket is only strong in a open field. biggest counter to musket is a wall / bush same size as your character.
weak in 3s, weak overall in wars besides 1 squad on ramparts, weak overall in OPR but OPR map is terrible designed to allowed very easy camping for muskets with mortal empowerment.

The problem with this is that the “right hands” are the vast majority of the time people using cheats/3rd party software/exploits/macros. When weapons are nerfed because of cheat software, not inherent balance issues…then this game is in trouble.
If people knew the amount of cheating going on in this game, and the types of cheats available, they’d be in an uproar.
It’s the 150 points in Int that makes the musket’s damage extreme. Now you will have to decide on int for damage (and most likely death if you’re caught), or more con for survivability.
100% true, if you don’t believe it just google New World aimbot, millions of hits. Undetectable aimbot with ESP (allows you to avoid incoming hits), wall, speed hacks and so on…

I know about uproar, when it was mentioned that there were auto dodge and esp mods people blew up the thread and said those didn’t exist. And persisted to insinuate that no one was using it, and everyone was just super good at the game. No one was cheating.
I just had to laugh myself out of the thread, it’s very polarizing.
And not just that, the only way muskets do well is if the stars align.
The musket needs:
• Attunement (preferably nature)
• Enchanted
• Keenly Empower
The player must run 0 con 300 dex 200 int.
The player must have a ring with:
• Mortal Empowerment
• Thrust Damage
• Burning
Armor perks necessary are:
• Crippling Powder Burn
• Empowering Shooter’s Stance
On top of requiring"
Resilience (all players needs this…frankly it should be baked into the player)
Shirking Fortification
Freedom (remove two freedoms for the weapon perks)
And this is if you are compltely discounting the Rapier and its perks.
But the thing I see every person fail to mention that hates on musket players, is that when a musket player gets caught, they literally go down in a global cool down. If I am caught in a slow, or a pull, I die 95% of the time. Even with heals being spammed on me.
I think the majority of players that get caught go down in a global because everyone (except bruisers) is wearing light armor with low Con to maximize their damage.
The fact that all those things you mentioned makes the musket extremely powerful in pvp is what troubles me. Now add in cheats and the musket becomes very unfun to play against.
