Musket needs bullet trajectory, NOT HITSCAN

The thing i find wrong with the musket concept in NW is that instead of a musket we’ve got something more akin to a riffle or even sniper riffle. Muskets by nature were notoriously imprecise.
Maybe more appropriate balancing would be to add more damage, armour pen and some sort of stagger but remove zoom.

I think I misunderstood.

I lead the target by trying to get my musket in the place to where the target is moving towards. When the target gets to that point I shoot.

I do not fire ahead of the target in order to compensate for speed and movement of both target and projectile.

Hitscan actually means that you are guaranteed a hit when your crosshair is ON the target when firing.

To be fair this is not true in this game. Muskets have the same issue as bows with the bullet firing from the left of the cross-hair. You hit if you hit (tautology I know) but where your actual crosshair needs to be relative to the target changes depending on how far away they are.

Ofcourse you have to AIM in order to hit the target, but you don’t need to aim 10m in front of the player and if they change direction since you’ve clicked your attack button at any point whilst the bullet (arrow/fireball) is travelling you’d miss.

I mean, all this means is there’s less prediction involved. Due to the nature of human reaction time and information processing, even for hitscans there is a window where you can be juked without an iframe.

Either all ranged weapons are hitscan or they’re all projectile based.

Why? The bow has other issues but the reason it has the potential for massive, chunky heavies, and much higher average DPS with light spam, is because it is balanced around being less accurate. You can hit and even one-shot a musket in a sniper perch but it’s harder than them hitting you back. People can more easily dodge your shots if all they’re trying to do is dodge, but in return you have higher potential DPS. It’s just a different weapon. There’s no inherent design issue with them having different aiming schemes. Hitscan makes sense with a musket, which would be an effective hitscan even with bullet drop, and which is mechanically designed around being at home in sniper settings and having a ponderous rate of fire but being accurate and powerful with each hit. It makes no sense for a bow. I’m personally hoping that when the lightning weapon comes out it is also a hitscan, because it would also make sense for a lightning rod, but it doesn’t make sense for the ice gauntlet or fire staff.
