I’m gonna make this as short and simple as I can, just to throw in my two cents:
I’ve been a PvE musket main since the second alpha test, even before they added a skill tree for it. I understand that musket was an issue in PvP, but I think the changes that were made impact PvE players unfairly since the weapon feels unusable now. Here are changes I’d like to see:
Roll back the crosshair and accuracy changes for musket
Implement some more damage falloff, or EVEN BETTER just make musket deal less damage to players. Reducing movement would be okay too - as long as the midrange PvE accuracy and dps aren’t ruined
Please - either way - put the old crosshair back! The new one looks and feels awful.
I don’t think I need to explain how the bloom doesn’t feel fun now. Lastly, a weapon shouldn’t be this dependent on a perk (accuracy) - literally all BIS-ish muskets are bad now.
I fall into this category for PVE as well but I started playing a little bit before brimstone and this has honestly killed what small amount of enjoyment I had with the game. It confuses me that they talk about ranged weapons falling behind in pve but in return give musket a heavy handed nerf that I personally think hurts it more in pve compared to pvp? I’m not entirely sure as I don’t do any major pvp yet but from my experience PVE musket doesn’t really have the luxury of waiting 2 seconds to pop accurate shots. I’m positive it hurts pvp musket a great deal but this nerf from my experience puts pve musket in worse state then it already was.
They completely killed any viability the weapon had. It was the worst weapon in pve (you would never get invited to a lobby as a musket player) and only about 3 to 5 of the 200 weapons in a war were a musket. It was decently strong in OPR because it was a noob stomper. People complained so much because it had 1 place in the game it was strong and it was only strong because of the map design.
Now we have to wait 3ish months of having our weapon be completely unusable for them to patch it to make it somewhat usable again. All of the people who cried about it being too strong are going to just start crying about how strong bow or firestaff is. Melee players just don’t want to acknowledge that ranged players are an actual threat they need to worry about.
I wish they had just made musket still viable in close combat . Yeah that’s weird to say . I get it . But when I play musket I don’t play it on a rock from 100m away. seems they kinda made it worse in 10m range and the cliff shooting (without movement) is still somewhat viable . Kinda feel that’s not what musket users OR non musket users wanted
The leaching from berserker could probably use a buff and maybe a little more damage overall. I think the updated defy death is fine. Defy death was pretty OP, especially if you only used it to get away.
Now musket is not fun for everyone, not just the people getting shot by the musket. I will say however, the new crosshair is much nicer than the previous one. I do think they need to fix the bloom indicator though, cause the musket is a LOT more accurate than the crosshair makes it seem. This leads to people complaining on the forums when they dont know what they are talking about.
musket is hitscan, bow and fire staff are not. Fire staffs range is also like 1/3 the range of musket.
Also, the OPR matches since patch have been more fun than ever, and not a single musket is in sight! So yes, all of a sudden it’s fun because musket isn’t there. the only people who don’t agree are the 2 or 3 people per server who main musket. And i am fine with those 2 or 3 people quitting if it means the rest of us can have fun.
For me, the accuracy is a bit too much, is a interesting change, but is simply too much, if the musket has ~30% more accuray or we can put the accuracy perks in the armor will be a ruge deal
To be fair, before this patch, invasions were the only PvE place where muskets did decently, and mostly they tended to be behind bows and mages for damage, but had some versatility by being able to play from the walls.
Not one of the invasion musket players I was in with last night thought it was worth running anymore, except for one who thought that with accuracy on the musket, it might be acceptable.
its rly funny how that dude said in the dev video he dont want the changes not to affeckt musket in pve basicly when in realtiy musket has no place in pve xD
