because such a simplistic meter doesn’t allow you to differentiate between single target damage and AoE… meaning whoever AoE the packs of fiend around the hive in genesis will shine at the end, and whoever went out of their way to kill the archer / prowler will suck.

i mean yes , and no , this would bring a ton of toxicity to the game . like there isnt enough already . yes we can see our own dps , other should never be able to .

Once again if the rewards and progress are tied to performance and efficiency then the developer will need to provide those tools or access to build those tools to properly measure metrics that relate to the endpoint.

If the developers don’t provide those means then players will do so themselves through predominately subjective criteria and filtering through discord servers with access granted based on placement rankings.

This in turn will create PUG runs where individuals will look to pad personal performance in order to get access to those discord servers more so than a meter might.

Either way this was a shitpost that went on far longer than I thought it would.

For people annoyed at the thought that meters may bring in toxicity then I’d say the fault isn’t in the request it’s in the design of the content and how rewards and progress are evaluated.

Yep AOE will shine in groups but not in a single target. But not every pull is single or grouped which means DPS will go up and down as you progress through the fights. This does not take away from my suggestion as many groups have different pulls depending on many different variables. That factor makes your point moot… now in an area setting where there is a single NPC and no add then yes AOE is going to be lacking and if that’s the case ask group members of their play style and remind them this is not AOE friendly or it is depending on the fights ahead. It is up to you to ask the right questions if you have concerns about AOE vs Single Target. This suggestion is only to help both sides of the discussion find a middle ground that they both can agree on.

doing any analysis beyond your position on the overall ranking IS too much effort for >95% of the playerbase.

I was in a company and I was consul too which we had x2 territory before server merge but the company leader stole all company gold and with his friends they have used the free world transfer to go another server after scamming whole company and thy even dismissed the company too. After that I started to play solo because of these.

After that, I have played solo, like 1.5 months alone and my gameplay time is already +1200 hours, but I started to play normally now. However, I don’t have legendary items. Current servers’ most active companies requirements are quite high right now… They want fully legendary 600 gear score players to their companies only (even for fortress sieges), which it is same for these expeditions too. And my main class is musket, so it is another problem for me not to get into these expeditions that players want mage dps or melee dps mainly for a fast run, so when mutation comes there will be time limit about who is going to do things faster, so I doubt that thy will get musket users… Even clicking to Outpost Rush takes a lot of time to get in too. Except doing the daily elite chest runs and some invasions with public raids, there is nothing to do. Thus, I try to get in the dungeons / expeditions. As I explained you about these dungeon - expedition problems, for players like to me to get into the dungeons is really hard; because of the players’ greed and high standards. However, it is not only because of the players greed. Amazon designed the expeditions like this so players exploit it to milk the normal legal players… And if you cannot get into the big companies, it is really hard to find some action at end game content too…

When you join a new company, it is very hard to form a new dungeon active group; because they have already their own dungeon groups. Our Server population decreased a lot too which at peak times we have 400-600 players online but if you exclude the BOTS, the server active population number is lesser…

As soon as they announced mutations and their mechanics I thought to myself “oh great, all the cancer and toxic WoW assholes will now come out of the woodwork”

Some of those issues are legit, but… musket complaints? There are other dex weapons that are good in dungeons, and since musket is actually good single target it shouldn’t be be bad for 3 out of 4 expedition bosses. The only one who has adds is the caretaker in Genesis.

DPS meter is not a bad suggestion, however it will lead to some issues. I believe meters are great for large raid settings for leadership to see what is going on, I’m not sold on it is needed for 5-man groups. There are a lot of selfish players in games. This will most likely lead to players worrying about personal glory and will disrupt other areas of gameplay. Players will think more for themselves (even more than they do now).

  1. Forget about getting a revive from a DPS when he is on the clock. He will be trying to max his/her numbers at all costs and will only rez as last resort.

  2. DPS will play stupid. Forget about tank aggro when DPS numbers are in play, they will take stupid risks and cause wipes due to personal glory numbers. IE: rushing to the mob before tank and ping ponging aggro, etc.

  3. Unless you plan to oust any player (maybe even a paying one) you perceive as lacking in the middle of the dungeon, what good are the numbers? It’s too late at that point, you are stuck with the player til the end. Bouncing players mid dungeon cause his numbers suck will cause more problems than what it’s worth. (After bouncing player are you gonna do interviews for the next group member mid dungeon?). At that point it is just a waste of time and just deal with your situation.

Look at the current player base. How many times you see players dying to boss mobs on chest runs, while others off looting the chest first, mining nodes, etc. Players for the most part (other than organized guilds), are for themselves. DPS meter may cause more harm than good. Even though it would be nice in game tool for personal weapon/gear evaluation.

I came to NW to wind down from the MMO job and it has that appeal. In 99 in EQ as one of the 7 active server monks (5 of which knew what they were doing), I pulled raids around the clock, every day for guilds. It was a fulltime job. In EQ2 in a top raid guild (#8 US and #13 worldwide) we obsessed over numbers, hurt guildmates feelings by excluding them nightly and wasted so much time wrapped up into things that really meant nothing. The days of pages/calls in the middle of the night to “get on game now!”, are over for me.

DPS numbers are a slippery slope. I think we should just appreciate NW for what has, sometimes less is more.

Nope its not. When you are tank you need to tank you cant do best dps while tanking no one ask him to do … dps .

Dps meter good for overall you can see yourself how you can do better and you can challange with your friends.

You missed my point, DPS will pull aggro from tank (attacking before tank establish, not backing off, etc). Post had nothing to do with tank/healers. DPS meter for the 3 DPS classes in group that will be the issues.

i understand what you mean. When i m going with my friend we all the time waiting first tank to engage. Yeah in some party maybe someone can jump fast but that will end hes death. Just let him die and he never do this again :smiley:

Yep, and if the team is good enough, you can burn him down without worrying about the adds.

You brought up the clear issue… then swerved around it like you didn’t see it … WTF… Clearly the issue here is how much VALUE you put on a run simply because of how much of a pain in the ass it is to craft an orb to enter it… solve the problem by removing the time gate and orbs all together 100% from the game and just let people grind the damn content to get their gear like any other game… The issue isn’t not having DPS meters… the issue is you value your stupid orb so much that you want the devs to put IN a dps tracker so you can feel like you are not wasting an ORB on a run with limp dicks… THINK FIRST, then talk… your idea is trash and would do nothing but hurt the game.

And no removing orb timegate is not the sole issue of the content. Removing the Orbs would automatically mandate the reward consistency get nerfhammered again just after they buffed it this patch.

Please think first and ya know maybe try reading the OP again to figure out what this thread is about.
