Hi there, First time posting here. I write this because I love fishing but I also have some quiestions about it…
I really enjoy fishing. It’s a bit dull but I just enjoy walking from hotspot to hotspot and gathering in between. I usually have PVP on for the luck buff. And because I am on a dead server I only got killed once. The fishing hotspots are usually a bit out of the way of main roads and questing areas so I don’t get bothered too much by other players and the hotspots are active most of the times I visit them.
The way fishing works is great. Select my fishing gear, cast in the right spot and start reeling in. There is this nice line where I can just drift away for a bit and still notice the signals of when to hook and reel. Only when I get distracted IRL it can get a bit harder. But then I can just leave the game for a bit and come back to it to continue doing what I was doing.
It’s too bad the fish aren’t really worth much so it doesn’t really make me rich. But since I am also at 200 cooking I can use the good fish in my recipes.
My questions mainly have to do with the luck but also some other stuff:
- Does the pvp buff of 30% have any effect on fishing? Is it just luck on bigger fish? Or is it luck on better fish? With my full fishing gear on I really don’t notice any difference between having pvp on or off on the 2 and 3 star hotspots. I really feel like this doesn’t work.
- How much luck does the ‘small’, ‘medium’ and ‘large’ bonus give me?
- What does it mean when I get a ‘bigger’ or ‘better’ fish? Does it mean I get a medium fish instead of a small one? Or does it have something to do with the weight? And the ‘better’ chance? Does that mean going from a uncommon to a legendary fish?
- I found a sheet with how much chance there is on a 3 star hotspot on getting a legendary fish. It looks like to be about 10% but percentages aren’t given. But even with all my fishing gear and large bonuses (5 times lucky waters III) I still don’t see a real difference in the amount of legendary fish I get. One time I had 2 legendary fishes in a 3 star hotspot but I often get none at all.
- There are 14 zones but only 11 of them have a 3 star hotspot. Even though those remaining 3 zones (Everfall, Brightwood, First Light) also have their own legendary fish. So I can barely get those because chances are so much lower in 1 or 2 star hotspots. Can this be fixed?
