I’ve been playing for a while now and did everything the game has to offer even though I didn’t reach max level yet
I’ll start with saying I enjoyed the game so far but this will end pretty soon and I’ll explain why in this post.
Gathering
Fishing:
People just love fishing… I HATE IT, in any game that is not a dedicated fishing game.
It’s always a mini game. mining, skinning, woodcutting and gathering is just a click and gather but this one just had to be a fkn time sink. I just really have to ask : WAS IT REALLY NEEDED?
Mining and woodcutting:
I believe that these are the most balanced things in whole game really…
gathering and skinning:
It’s kind of forced upon you by the game so training these is more of an obligation rather than a skill you do because you want to.
overall:
you need to much of everything, my warehouses are overflowing with gathered things i don’t know wheter I should just dump them or might still need them later.
I can’t sell them because nothing is worth anything in auction and in the end just can’t stop myself from hey ill gather that each them i encounter things so.
RNG = LAZY GAME DESIGN
Cooking
Yes Cooking gets its own section because really it needs one.
Cooking is a complicated mess. It seems it was designed in making it the most frustrating thing to gather and craft. Why? just because they could. it has the most types of resources that you HAVE to search all over the map and a bunch of those even only in resource crates because yea fck you player go run around some more.
It’s even more ridiculous that most of the gathered things already have their own parent categorie. and lower “tier” stuff is only used at that start of you game because you level to fast.
Crafting, Gear Drops
First thing i say about this is RNG is the WORST design choice in ANY kind of crafting
I would throw out the whole random system at once. It only creates waste and frustration and a flood of items being created that have to be either salvaged or sold.
Gear drops should be removed because it makes your crafting system invalid for anything below max level. Seriously why would anyone ever craft a weapon worse than the things he can find in the fckn wild. Even now I still can’t craft gear that for my level and it’s way to much work to level up crafting at the same time I can level up ffs.
If those things have been done you can start creating a market for gear that has been designed
for specific stats and perks giving players the choice in wanting a specific type of item.
Make gear irreparable or at least make it so they break after X amount of repairs which in turn creates a demand for new gear not killing you end game crafting market because everyone already has his end game gear.
This also would make it possible to create a commission in the action house for specific gear
anyway this would make things more economically interesting
Gear quality(color)
Like in all MMO’s and most RPG’s i have to wonder why do you create a quality system if only the highest tier quality ever matters
redesign your gear so that each quality gear has all the stats and perks
let the quality determine how good those stats and perks are.
let the quality of materials determine how high in quality a piece of equipment together with the level of the crafter.
this should make it so that players can choose a staff for its looks and just have to make it well crafted to make it end game gear.
Combat and pvp
disclaimer : I play healer so everything will be biased from my POV so sorry but this is in the end my opinion anyway
YOU LEVEL WAY TO FAST!!!
No really wtf is it with being level 60 within a week of playing. I played casually and still reached end game way to fast. my crafting couldn’t keep up with my gear score and it just made all other activities except questing and fighting feel useless till later.
Even though I like the way combat works and the fact it’s more skill based. I feel that I didn’t have much choice in how to fight. being forced to focus on FOCUS my weapon choice was zero.
i couldn’t use any other weapon because my stats didn’t scale whit those weapons making them mostly useless in my eyes.
This made it so that i walk around with 2 staffs and only ever use 1. I have no CC nor AOE so my combat became slow and impossible in higher respawn location (EXTREMELY annoying)
overall though I just got it easy needed no potions or food for anything but this made cooking feel useless and arcana was leveled just so i could maybe 1 day make a staff.
i never did an expedition on level so I have no experience doing that but I could easily keep my whole party pretty much max health during those I did unless they screwed up.
PVP wise I did a few wars and just had the feeling i was spamming my skills as much as possible into a group of as many people as possible all the while having no idea if what i was doing working or not.
open world pvp I have not really done a lot I play mostly solo so wasn’t gonna get noob crushed by doing that. I played it with my friend one night doing pvp missions and he did what i have always hated in any kind of open pvp setting. noob crushing…
we were lvl 25 at that time and each time he saw anyone below our level he would try to kill them even if they were like level 12 or so. in my eyes this is pathetic i would just ignore that guy I want to play pvp for the challenge not the roflstomping.
So it is good that you can turn of open pvp even though the game is designed for just that and it really shows.
end of bad combat rant. really i don’t have much to say about this because my experience and ideas about combat are really lacking.
Overall i think the game has potential but I don’t believe it will be achieved
I’m one of the people that believe that a good game will always make a profit but a game made for profit is a gamble.
this game is Amazon’s gamble and the question is will players stick?
