My PvP friends quit - here is why

They don’t care enough about the game anymore to post here so I feel I should speak for them.

My friends are PvPers at heart. They like New World’s combat system so much that they leveled to 60 just so they could PvP. We played OPR together all the time, they bought all kinds of skins, and we were loving it until the Dec patch, which added desync and made PvP a lot less fun. Then the Dec and Jan patches combined made it so you have to grind PvE for another 100+ hours after level 60 to get high expertise before you can PvP on a level playing field. So PvP is now both broken and gated, and the recent gating from mutations made them stop playing because it feels like too much work.

As far as suggestions for improvement, besides fixing desync, I think there needs to be a variety of PvP modes with 100% scaling, so skill is the only thing that matters. I bet I could bring my friends back if that was the case.

A single mode to rule them all

I think these are some good ideas for a variety of PvP modes. I really hope they don’t settle on “arenas” as a bandaid for PvP, I feel like those are one piece of the puzzle but there needs to be a few more modes too like you describe.

I very much agree with this and this sentiment is shared by many I know. In my opinion, I’m fine that gear score scales damage in wars, it incentivizes and rewards the hardcore players for dedicating their time to the grind (even though I disagree with the grinding process right now). But having it scale in OPR and open world I think just kind of kills the mood. The game should at LEAST have a separate “unranked” version for OPR. I really hope they don’t enable scaling in arenas whenever they come.

I am one of those players that was apart of a friend group that are PVPers and really only pvpers. We will PVE when we have to get gear but we would pvp like crazy at lvl 30. We didnt care to speed lvl because if we saw red they were going to die. Which made the leveling so great when the game launched. But like your friends my friends quit as well from all the bugs and and lack of consistency in pvp (Like bugs/exploits getting them killed during an even fight). They just moved on and honestly I don’t blame them. At gear score 600 I have no need to push to 620 with the current pvp content in the game. I enjoy open world PVP because its organic pvp. If they want to revitalize this game they will need to make Open world PVP a thing. Currently less and less people are flagging up. Why? Cause I keep killing them and honestly you cant tell a difference between loot.

One idea is make it so who ever owns the fort in the territory gets a 10% speed buff. Stuff like that will increase the amount of fort fights. Throw events like the meteor concept like if the meteor falls you have to be flagged to pick it up and it takes 1min to collect it. So it has to make it really worth to get it. (expertise increase guarantee?) But if they want to save this awesome pvp game they will dedicate developers to pvp and others to pve. Let people with pvp passion run the pvp department. Let there be WAR in New World! And during War Times in New World… Red = Dead. As a Yellow I preach “Convert or Death Heathens!”

Congratulations! :tada:

thanks for voicing my thoughts. hopefully this game gets the no man’s sky longterm development treatment and we can see some big improvement in pvp. i truly have no interest in pve, i feel like i can get that just about anywhere. the pvp combat in this game is so fun though it makes me sad that i’m tired enough of all the issues to be looking elsewhere
