My quick opinion on Loot, storage and why it deters me from playing

The way storage is right now is completely flawed.
A player must be able to search the storage for items just like in the trading post!
I do not bother with dungeons even though id like to.
I do not bother changing my build even though i have some unique ideas, and the gear! But i can’t be bothered to go hover over every single item i collected… WTF!?
Because of this i just sticked to playing OPR and occasionally farming.

e.g. This is also a problem in wars! I could not participate because our company was in need of a heavy point mage, i know i have the gear somewhere from all the OPR loot. But i cant be bothered to spend 20-30 min searching it…

This was always so obvious to me, i wonder how this is not fixed yet.

Can anybody, who has a background in programming, tell me if implenting this is actually a time-consuming task?
I have no skills in programming, but it does not seem like it would be a big thing.

So, in short. The longer you play the more you will collect but the less playable it will become. HUGE flaw imo.

We know loadouts are coming but that is not enough. There needs to be a perk search in storage (not just item title search). Also, 590 Named items should show the 3rd perk grayed out until upgraded to 600.

This search feature could be implemented in 60 days by only around 5 people. The devs just have a metric ton of stufd they are working on and cant afford that many people to work on just that problem for that long.

I could do it by myself in 7 days but they rejected my application.

Revamping brightwood is way higher of a priority, just nobody can figure out why since literally nobody cares.

Agreed, I spend way too much time in my storage sorting and searching. Please implement the same search you have on TP as it would save me a ton of time!

Another bump to this much needed function

It’s rly not… a massive task.

Would it take a little bit of time? Sure and a bit of testing… but it’s rly not something hard to do…

AND they should have made the storage universal… no more of this location based storage that nobody asked for… (maybe gives us 2 tabs for those that want to store things else where so for crafting).
But other then that… it should have been a very simple Universal Bank, with a search function…

Why they dont do it… its anyones guess… maybe they only have 10 people working on NW.

Look at gear-sets… was a much needed function since they decided on expeditions and they way to do them… they are comming now… and from what we heard for some reason they have a limit of 10… which would only partially solve the problem for the hardcore people… and would not change much for casuals that only use 2-3-5 sets.

Sometimes they make the wierdest choices… and nobody knows why (i wonder if they do?)…

Consider that with gear sets, this might solve ur problem if ur not into having sets for every activity in the game.

At least the decentralized storage allows you to sort your gear to have some order.

My mats in my 3 big towns. STR gear in FL, DEX in valor hold, INT in Wik-Walla, Corrupted ward in WW… general BiS gear in BW, maybe useful gear in WV etc.

It could have easily been done with tabs, like other games and i would have been more then happy to pay 5$ for them, rather then having this absolutely frustrating split bank.

Everytime i take a break from the game and come back… i need to re-learn the location of all my stuff… cant give them custom names, cant sort it properly… cant allocate LT to correnspond to the needs of that particular bank designation, cant search though it… I didn’t mind if it was the way it was originally (based on cities) at least then it made sense… had a reason it was like that… now its just frustrating to use…half done job, which in general i would say its worse then not doing it at all…

It’s one of those changes that have no rime or reason… and there are like 100 other ways that could have been done better… and i simply dont understand why this has went though, or at least once it went though why it hasnt been revisited in so long… its not a big change… and i get it its not that important… but its one of those things that most people automatically dislike… and it does not need to be this way… it’s not a design choice… its just “lazy” work.

Don’t take my words to harsh, i dont rly care enough about this subject… to rly matter, like it does for OP, but i do share his frustration.

PS: It probably wouldnt be as bad, if the bank interface was not so damn awful. Try finding a piece of gear when u have 200-400 pieces of gear, see how fun that is. It’s just a bunch of problems adding up, balance patches dont help either, cause it encourages people to save different sets of gear, that could potentially become BiS… so you end up with 100s of pieces of gear… and when ur looking for a particular set u feel like quiting or not doing it at all.

One of my friends has a spreadsheet, where he “manages” his bank… cause its just impossible to do in game… its rly rly sad… so much so that its kindof a meme in our discord.

Yeah, this game has a tradition of bad UI. Even such a simple thing like sorting your completed sales by timestamp doesn’t work correctly. Which is a really bad if you’re into trading.

And if you wanna craft something have fun scrolling through gazilions of useless crafting recipes… To somewhat circumvent that I don’t store timeless shards any more in my main crafting hub unless I need them and on my next toon I make sure I don’t learn the lower tier cooking recipes any more…
