Open world events/bosses spawning. Like the giant turkey but something that actually has mechanics and requires teamwork to take down.
You wonât truly know what needs balancing and such until you release arenas (2v2 and 3v3) on the ptr and gather a lot of data from it, what might seem underpowered in a 1v1 might become overpowered in a 3v3 due to weapon synergy with others and such. This is coming from a world of Warcraft player who only does competitive 2v2 and 3v3 on that game. Donât rush the tuning process and take your time with it on the ptr. I have experienced countless WoW expansion betas where blizzard does not pay attention to feedback on the beta with pvp and the rest of the expansion they struggle to fix classes with tuning and such and that frustrates players. Fixing combat smoothness is also a top priority for the release of competitive pvp and donât do drastic nerfs and buffs if a weapon is over or underperforming, DONT kill a weapon. I believe in yâall
I think we need fights that require mechanics more than damage. LOVE those kind of fights and Destiny of all games does this very well in the RAIDS as an example
Idk if you played blessed unleashed (garbage game, p2w, the usual), one thing they did right was open world bosses, Multiple in every zone for every level, they scaled for your level and for the number of people fighting it. 99% of that game was dogshit. The 1% that wasnât, was really good. Massive open world bosses will never be a bad thing.
I am 100% for having open world bosses! (Keep them combat based)
I would love the dungeons to have more mechanic based is what Iâm saying. Still have the combat absolutely donât get me wrong
Many peopleâŚmyself included arenât even participating in expeditions/dungeons.
Simple reason beingâŚ
-
You canât que into them like you can in OPR.
-
They donât want to spend hours doing something not fun getting the materials to then run an hour long expedition.
I think Fun above all else should be the priority. Grind is good but it has to be impactful.
Please, for the love that all that is holy, let PVE players enjoy dungeons without the Tuning Orbs. Itâs prohibitive to our favorite content in MMOs. At the very least consider how the system might be limiting to us. @Shadow_Fox
the current expeditions dont take an hour ? and also they are increasing drop rates so youll be getting alot more gear from doing the expeditions
A lot more gear isnât the issue. I get a lot of gear already doing chests, quests, portals and open world named. You know how many useful pieces of gear I have gotten in the time I have been doing that? By useful I mean attributes and traits usable and applicable to my build or an upgrade to what I can find for under 2k gold in the tp?
3 pieces one I am still using that is a 490 gs earring.
Missing the point a bit Cool. Itâs not worth having to get a tuning orb to run a dungeon.
Until thatâs not the case-I have no desire to run any expeditions. Nor do any of my friends
the video i watched of a guy talking about gear drops from mutations on the ptr he said he got like 40-50 purples during the expedition and said at the higher ranks 4-5 legendries
skip to 2:15
you telling me you get more drops thn this from your chest/portal runs?
Myself, I hate the dungeon type of game play, understand that it appeals to many people, so itâs good that it exists, but it should not be the only path forward.
Personally, I prefer PvP, not arenaâs, not battlegrounds like OPR, but more something like the open world consensual PvP systems, like Dark Age of Camelotâs Frontiers, GW2âs AvA, ESOâs Cyrodiil. An area where people go for PvP with some objectives, non time based, non instanced, no scoreboard, just where the fun comes from the fights.
For PvE related stuff, I like the crafting/gathering stuff. Despise dungeons and quests.
My 2cents worth.
I used to. Then they downgraded drop rates from chests and bosses to accommodate for gypsum.
The thing is the expeditions are also locked behind an orb wall and the mutable ones will be locked behind a second orb wall. Instead of making them more accessible they are currently less so. In addition because of the new system they will have to nerf the older ones to keep the market from being flooded or whatever excuse they use.
Tell me how many groups are going to risk their orb and time in a mutable dungeon with pugs?
yeah i get getting tuning orbs sucks and only because the only way to get the shards you need you have to spam portals and alot of them!
If they increased the drop rate of the shards and made it so you are guaranteed to get a corrupted lodestone from the major portals it wouldnât be as bad i dont think
Raids, we absolutely need 10 man or 20 man raids. Give companies something to do together other than opr, have raid teams. Unique legendaries from bosses in said raids and armor sets unique to the raid.
You and me both.
I was really hoping this game would have some great open world PvP eventually, but I think we can give up on that dream. Reading the devs actions and not their words, they just want to keep players running that treadmill, chasing that carrot always just out of reach.
I donât see how any new players can look at these mechanics and not feel daunted. And if youâre not attracting new players and enticing old ones to come back, then I donât see a future for NW.
YaâŚArena (with itâs better gear) made Battlegrounds a 100% more fun in WoW. /s
Straight up, AGS doesnât get how to make an engaging game. For what ever reason Devs these days thing RNG is their answer for making âinfinite contentâ out of finite content; the more RNG, the better.
Definitely make 590+ items upgradable instead of turning them into trash after the grind that was involved acquiring them.
New World has had a unique gearing system that went beyond your standard MMO approach of pampering hardcore PvE players. Iâd appreciate if they kept it that way.
Yeah. As a relatively new 60 Iâm already playing âCatch upâ to the unforgiving expertise grind. While itâs nice to have access to âdecentâ gear in trading post at the moment, forcing the EX grind to all new players is a pretty brutal time sink.
Most of the PvE focused players including myself are going to tell you the same thing, stop restricting access to endgame PvE content (lvl 66 zones are NOT endgame itâs a joke and a bad one at that open world endgame zones that can be completely run over by large enough groups isnât engaging content itâs mindless garbage).
Lets take a full look at PvE endgame right now as it stands using my experience as an example itâs endless Chores for 6 days and a day of running 2 expeditions over again with our set group of 5. so iâm online in game every day and i get to play the actual end game PvE content for a few hours on 1 of those days providing iâve spent the rest of the week doing âChoresâ this isnât an endgame loop itâs a damn job and you donât pay me anything wheres my minimum wage for it /s. you want to keep your PvE focused players let them play the content.
The PvE content is thin as it is and the timegating/orb farming is tedious boring drivvel that belongs in a korean grindfest of the early 2000âs.
PvE endgame doesnât exsist in new world, what It consists of, is go do youâre chores. this attitude to endgame is so far out of touch with the playerbase that i do believe even the old hardcore Aion players would recoil in horror at it. you made 2 fairly decent end game expeditions let the people play the damn things.
If the PvE community wanted Chores to do theyâd go wash the damn dishes weâre here to play content not spend all week making arbitrary items as to actually play the game. you want to make the game accessible then actions speak louder than words if i wanted to play timegate simulator iâd play raid shadow legends.
What your development team needs right now is a complete shake up of decision makers and your C-suite need to take a step back from the board room start looking at player satisfaction metrics instead of padded player/hrs metrics, as the forums are filled with nothing but complaints about your direction in game, donât get me wrong i love the idea of mutations and harder difficulties you hit a great one on that no complaints here but another damn orb farm just makes my stomach turn. your so called play it your way attitude is disingenuous as has been shown by your actions the past 14 weeks, non stop artificial grind, HWM reworks that if iâm being honest have made the gearing process feel convoluted and now planned power creep in under 4 months.
And to all the people out here crying about PvE players running non stop dungeons i ask you why do you care itâs instanced content theyâre PvE players enjoying the game they have no impact on you whatsoever and if they can do it so can YOU!
you want happy people stop adding arbitrary systems to slow people down and start making more actual content. as for expertise/umbral systems learn from your mistakes and scrap the lot HWM/Expertise = fake progression for progressions sake, pointless time sink to pad Player engagement numbers makes for good C-Suite pie charts but that data is not an authentic representation of player satisfaction.
Anyway rant over, my apologies in advance if anyone takes anything personally, i love the world you built i love the visuals the sound the feel but my faith in the Dev team to actually listen to the screaming playerbase is at an all time low, CMâs saying we hear you and lets have a conversation are mute when said interactions fall on def âyes Mr C-suiteâ devs that wont stand up for the players they create for.
