Mounts in New World are going to be a challenge given the terrain. I’d be happy with automated routes between settlements similar to chocobos in FFXIV.
Maybe a wagon that you pay gold to travel from city to city via the main roads. Until then I’ll settle for being able to float in water.
I’ve always loved mounts, I’ve ground out rep for them, bought them with ingame gold i had to grind for, even paid real money for some skins for mounts, but in this particular instance I believe they are a mistake.
Give us sprint based on our Stamina bar.
The map is just not that big. It looks like it when you are looking at the ingame map. But when you actually traverse the world it shrinks pretty fast.
Mounts will detrimentally affect people who choose not to use them. An example would be for those who like to explore and harvest or who have harvesting routes they follow. Without a mount they will simply be unable to keep up and will have to use a mount merely to keep enjoying the game.
Perhaps the mount on a rail idea would work. But other than that mounts will really ruin this game for a number of people.
Mounts for only PVE flagged ppl so PVP flagged players don’t try to use this to run away faster, unless they plan to add mount abilities.
Also please no weird mounts just horses, and the ability to make armor for them to customize, just please no frilly crap that I have seem from mobile games.
And I think carriages should be pulled my bulls for a fee from an NPC from towns and you have to protect the carriage from either AI or other players. The former level of the AI being determined by the territory level.
Yes and no. I was fine with the 1 or 2 spots per map that you could pay for a ‘taxi’. You had no control of the mount, it took you to a specific area and only that area. You accidentally get off the horse, you were stranded and had to walk the rest of the way. If anything hit you, you got knocked off and had to walk. The mounts only followed roads, so sometimes a direct run would be faster.
Map is so small no mounts needed for the mean time. You can literally teleport back and fort to your inn and and shrines. Exploration is good i got side track all the time on areas. And its very immersio breaking to see a mount randomly poop from air. Mounts are for people who just want to finish the game very fast and quit.
Adding mounts to an MMOrpg with open world PvP?
Never been done before. Other games definitely don’t have mounts and exploration, gathering, PvP, etc …
Wait. Have you ever played literally any other mmo? Or open world rpg? Elder scrolls?

Dude… Wow had mounts and PvP something like 15 years ago. Come on.
Yes we could have mounts but then thay need to change lore or add something so we can use mounts suddenly. Maby in future expansions but thay need to think carefully how to add mounts without turning Azoth useless.
Maby having mount but thay have also monthly payment or food or something else that consumes resources in order to have this conviniency.
I have another idea. Why not a special token that could summon the resources you need so you can gather or kill without moving at all?
It can even be sold and have tiers, higher price you can summon higher tier and More rare resources to gather or kill, all without the need to move at all.
Why would anyone have to bother to do a bit of the game content to gain Azure and travel faster? I mean, that lame OPR gives only 250 azoth if you win… And portals… and those houses, why should we need to but the houses to have alternatives to travel?
Meh, mounts are not enough, I want instant resources where I am without the need to move.
Please don’t introduce mounts, i really like the idea of wasting time grinding azoth for fast travelling so more players will get upset and quit the game, then i can finally farm my ores in peace.
In game I usually could end up traveling to most of the settlements. Especially when managing Inventory… settlements change overnight . At any moment a alchemy cooking town can become a outfitting forging town.
The world does t feel small to me as traveling across the map can’t take up 3 or 4 hours of my play time… these trips aren’t so.bad when I can farm along the way but full inventory. I am hitting auto run and checking out mentally.
My last 4 hour tour was because I didn’t have enough food and supplies to wage a quest campaign in the territory I was in.
We all know mounts will not be added until the first expansion at the soonest

When they do introduce mounts I want a fully functional ai mounts. Interested into the campfire system . I am willing to wait for that as illusion mounts with run speed just isn’t good enough
The clause that mounts will destroy WPVP, as I see it is not horse digested food. First if one attacks me, I am already getting away from them by running away. Second, most players are already running with PVP off. So the WPVP is basically already dead. Third let look how mounts affected other MMORPG WPVP- WoW had mounts from release and not once if felt like mounts ruined WPVP. It rather ruined when flying was introduced, but even then it was questionable. ESO also has mounts and not once have we felt like we need to disable them in Cyrodiil.
Obviously if your idea of mounts is that you can instantly summon them, they run 700% speed and can’t get dismounted, then yes they prolly make PVP even worse. But that is exactly why game designers need to come mechanics to counter mounts. Just like Blizzard was able to do 14+ years ago or Zenimax 6+ years agoi.
