My response to mounts

I can just see someone running away from me, get out of combat, and mount up making my passives for speed boosts on my weapons useless.

Kills portals instantly because no one cares about azoth anymore.

All so little revenha doesn’t have to walk…

Yeah, wouldn’t that be something…players using Azoth instead of hoarding it and bitching about having to spend it.

what risk? i lose the same amount of durability to my gear in pve content as pvp. and with the exception of the resistance to all damage from faction gear damage input/output is the same.

I’m with the “no mount” team ATM, though fast travelling cost are definitely too high.
The travel system need to be improved, my suggestions, each depending on the previous to improve the travel system:

  • lower cantina travel CD (halved would be enough)
  • reworked travel price, maybe give other way to spend azoth
  • chance to fast travel to/from active campsite (making it like a mobile shrine, with price little higher than real shrine travelling)
  • make repair allowed in town (with lower item cost) or by camp (with medium item cost) so, one can use more the travel with lowered price, or directly in the open field (higher item cost)
  • more shrines to reduce further pointless walk especially closer to dungeons.

my 2c.

Do i like mounts? Sure
Does this game necessarily need mounts? Not at all, not in a practical way.

Map is so small especially with all the teleport points around. Azoth is so easy to get so it’s a non issue.
So practically the game does not need mounts. But it would be nice to have, just for the sake of having mounts. But it could raise issues for open world competition, so i rather not have them since they are not needed.

not if you could implement a dismount skill so players or mobs could essentially knock you off your mount.

You are missing a valuable lesson by staying on the roads and wanting more speed.

The countryside is full of wonderful and often deadly additions to the game. Running a road is as boring as watching paint dry but move off-road and you are faced with a totally wonderful game.

Forget mounts, Donkeys and caravans. Next it will be a fast bullet train between towns. Perhaps we can have blue flashing lights and jump into an Emergency Vehicle to travel fast between towns. I have retired from being in the Fire Engines, perhaps a wee Police car would suit me

The increased risk of dying and having to respawn at a settlement, then run back to the content you were doing. Losing out on getting the gathering nodes you were going for, etc, because the other flagged person will get them. You can “lose” a lot of time you would otherwise spend advancing if there is a lot of open world PvP going on.

Or just the mount get a summon time of 10 seconds, dismount starts one minute cooldown and damage from entities 5 level under your own will dismount.

should be fair enough imao

Has anyone actually timed how long it takes to run from one end of the map to the other? I bet its not that long. The map isn’t actually that big. If travel was to be made faster then it would affect everything including the economy. The map would feel small. You already have the choice to fast travel and if you manage your azoth and inn well then you wont have much of a problem. I really hope that no change is made to travel speed and I REALLY hope that mounts are never added in any way shape or form.

I’m just not in favor of Mounts.

There is also lore on the game of you doing quest to help re domesticate. Animals. The quest also points out multiple mobs reps still having pets.

This is not a legitimate counter argument to mounts.

Heck angry Earth can create animals from sticks .

That magic is certainly something that can be stolen or passed on to humans.

We also no that killing for azoth led to much land being cursed

No mounts.
There are plenty of other end-game elements that need to be addressed/implemented before they even attempt to roll out mounts and the plethora of issues that would follow.

The only problem with navigation is Azoth travel.
They need to severely increase the cap, and add another Azoth sink.

At least double it to 2,000.

Mounts aren’t needed right now. The world is not that big to be honest. The map at this state, is way to small. We would need to add about 5-6 more zones before mounts can realistically be thought about being added.

I can literally run across the whole map in about an hour or so?

There are fast travel points all over the map which make it super easy to travel. Now that outpost rush is enabled, azoth really isnt an issue.

i can see the risk there on your time. 1v1-ing (if i’m lucky) for my 300,000th iron node so i can get my professions to 200 would be a less exciting ordeal though. I already slog through zones for enough mats to craft a metric ton of items.

The simple fact of the matter is the game would imploded on itself trying to load all those additional assets.

It isn’t about want or not want, it’s about the game not being able to continue to keep it’s render and open world pvp without absolutely shitting the bed.

if they were worried about loading assets they wouldn’t have places in town that aren’t accessible to players being loaded so the town looks pretty.

What they are never adding mounts they are deadset on this it was pointed out they are against it and will never change. and there points are spot on and I agree with the devs the mounts would ruin this game.

As bad as I want mounts they are a bad idea, despite I want them as I hate running everywhere but they are not wrong they would make porting around pointless and would also need to make them only carry up x weight.

there’s so much bad for mounts they should be avoided period no point adding something that makes the game to easy and fast

When was the last time you seen open pvp IN the towns?
How many unaccessable assets are out around forts?

I know what your saying, but render distance and asset models in town where they don’t need solid synchronization isn’t as important as the cries of the PVPers when they can’t shoot someone on a mount due to sync, or having 50 people riding up on my little ponies causing extreme lag.

This is what I am saying
