My review of New World

At 48 years young and have been playing MMO’s since Feb 1990 (Asherons Call), ive been involved with lots of games, beta’s, etc. A friend told me of New World at the weekend and i immediately purchased it. Having got to lvl 21 over last couple of days, id thought id share my experience as im waiting in a 3k queue.
Great fun game so far, if youve played MMO’s before, very easy to pickup and learn the ropes. The game looks great on my Rig and sounds good too. Ive not experienced any lag in game even in over crowded city centre’s. Progression and skill lines are easy to follow, pick a weapon style you like the look of and go with it. Questing seems straight forward, although alot of running from one Zone to another does become a little tiresome. Yes there are Inn recalls and you can spend resources to fast travel too, i think the map in towns could do with adding the fast travel shrine icon and while i remember, would be a nice touch to be able to add personal notes on our map, like if i find a good spot to farm resources. Crafting seems fun and collecting resources, in all my other games ive always preferred to craft my own stuff.
Havent worked out yet how to customize the chat box settings, to turn off certain channels, maybe a couple of tabs are needed for Factions/Company/general chats. No minimap hasnt been an issue, although the tracker bar the top isnt the easiest to follow, seems you need to be almost standing ontop of the resource your looking for. A few quests were a niggle, especially the quest trying to collect Elk Antlers where u have to tag the mob and hope for a drop, took a good few hours to complete due to respawn times and player over crowding.
So enjoying the game so far, apart from Queue’s the release has been perfect in my opinion and like i said ive been involved with lots of release’s over the decades, i look forward to seeing how the game progress’s and hopefully will be enough end-game content to keep me entertained.
