Native Controller Support

I know this has been talked about before but man, I would love for it to get some traction. I love New World, it’s fun, beautiful and engaging. Out of any QoL things I can think of to make the game feel better to me it’s native controller support.

I 100% understand that there are some Steam layouts that work-ish. They are however missing things like easy menu navigation that can be navigated easily without having to create a million layers by some user on Steam. When ESO introduced their gamepad mode with the click of a button, everything you can do in game (other than typing to people) can be done extremely easily with your gamepad. The menus change to make them make sense for a gamepad user, scrolling the map is easy, merchant navigation/crafting is a breeze. For folks who have back pain, shoulder pain, etc this makes playing this game infinitely better. Did you get yourself a Steam Deck? How nice would it be to play NW from the coziness of your bed or couch? Not to mention, action combat games just feel good playing with gamepad.

Ags originally planned to have gamepad support and they even tweeted that it wouldn’t be there at launch but after, unfortunately for reasons unknown it was scrapped. Please AGS, at least say this is something you’re looking at, it would be such a QoL improvement for myself and others. It’d probably be an enticing feature to bring new players in as well. I’m sure there are plenty of reasons that some people wouldn’t use this feature and that’s 100% fine, but for some of us, it’d amplify our love of the game even more.
