Whats the issue? What objectively the gamedesign mistake here?
To me it doesnt seem like a crazy rich company has a crazy unfair advantage. Nearly maxing out a character does not require a huge investment (but maxing it out totally is crazy expensive), and that is enough to compete in wars.
I don’t think its bad company’s can spend the gold their get from town’s on stuff, rather the problem lies in the housing tax system, large upfront cost to buy a house with weekly taxes, and how all the gold pretty much goes towards Everfall and Windsward owners.
The crafting patch didn’t help either to level up trade skills you need appropriate crafting stations, and crafting higher tier’s of trade stuff cost more in taxes, where before you could spam tier1 stuff for less tax cost and anywhere.
If you could abandon your house and get 75% of the gold back, and there was no upkeep on houses and every settlement just received 50.000 gold instead in housing taxes as compensation.
Good! This is how it should be! It isn’t often a game but makes a game function work as it actually should work. But I’m happy to hear of this bug. Also given AGS’s speed at fixing shit I imagine we will be blessed with it for a while…another awesome thing.
i dont think you will have something like ‘‘yeah we know its breaking the game we will fix this’’
I have to agree with this statement. I am simply in awe at the depth of bad design decisions this studio has made. It is mind boggling this tax system even made it 2 seconds after its suggestion in a conference room back during the initial design meetings. So out of that group of people sitting in that conference room that day not a single one could think to speak up and say was an absolute horrid idea it was. Simply fucking amazing. And a true testament to how utterly amateur the development staff of this studio is.
I almost pissed myself reading this. Some moron that thinks he should be handed other peoples gold (which equates to time) in the form of taxes thinks someone else thinks ‘everything else should be handed to him’. The depth of stupidity of some people on these forums is god damn amazing.
oh come on! House tax is peanuts. You really worry about those few coins?
Crafting fees cost much more.
And you can not remove the ability to use the money for whatever they like. That is the incentive to win a territory and keep it. Win the invasions and wars.
If they manage to do that, they deserve it.
Don´t like it? Take it away from them.
That is the CORE design of the game? You really do not understand that?
And one of the GOOD design decisions too.
The game should be about open world and conflict. Not about “muhatators”
I think soon AGS is going to be forced to act in an actual meaningful way on this tax problem. These forum posts on the topic need to continue. The memes need to be made. The negative press needs to keep happening. It is clear they’re not bright enough to realize the negative draw on fun this disgusting tax system brings to their game. We need to force them to see the light and make it the absolute top priority. I am not playing this game to enrich the fun of some asshole I have never and will never know from Adam or some random streamer with his army of tween followers that has the initial horsepower to take a town in this game!
We should be able to get 100% of the cost of the house back until the tax system is 100% reworked to include the inability of companies to personally withdraw tax revenue.
NONE of the taxes should exist. Companies should have zero control over tax revenue rates or accounts. ALL the taxes should be simple money sinks set at appropriate levels.
Sorry, I disagree.
And no I do not have territory.
In contrary: there should be much more conflict drivers between players.
This is what the game should be focused on. Hitting each other on the head for resources.
Not sit in a dungeon with a 5man grp all day.
They need to drastically lower the cost of upkeep on most territories or scale it based on money earned.
You can’t lower taxes when on most servers, it’s not even enough to pay the towns upkeep. We already have multiple cities with T5 stations downgrading because people can’t afford upkeep due to various reasons:
- No one is getting Housing Taxes atm
- Most servers are below 500 player peak
- Loss of economy over all due to player count
dont think you get how anything worksin general and how crafting stations are maintained, if money isnt received and they cant pay it everything downgrades and no one crafts and then the game dies, before replying with a very unintelligent comment try thinking real hard this time, use all your 3 I.Q you have
idk about your server buddy but most income comes from housing taxes especially WW and EF for ours.
Good, more power to you. I hope it covers the cost, so you can keep running everything smoothly.
And get something out of it for yourself too, so that it is worth the trouble.
I think its too late for them. They burned their bridges with 5 months of fingers in their ears and hands over mouth about too many things.
What is this another real issue devs are ignoring?
no, there is no issue.
The city owners won and defended the cities, they upkeep them and keep the crafting stations tiered. This is their reward. You did nothing, you get no reward. It’s simple
