Need OFFICAL word on tax problem

Reading 101…may I suggest that course to you?

So congrats on posting a paragraph of ‘no shit really’.

As I’ve posted numerous times the tax revenue should not be a withdrawable resource of player guilds. Until the ability of companies to withdraw tax revenue is removed the fees for upgrades should be brought into line with the income of the town. Also 150k a week is not a major expense for hardly any of the towns especially Winsward and Everfall!

FAR more people are being turned off to the game due to the cancerous taxing system that rewards worthless unemployed sweats than would be if they removed the taxing system all together!

My opinion is if you own a house in the town and pay the taxes you should get a % of the profits by signing up for invasions and wars even if you are not chosen (not your fault). Do away with the faction system for town ownership, companies should be able to take towns from any other company. Since we have a faction system make it count in opr (i.e if your faction gets the most opr wins in a weeks time the next week all your ports are reduced). That would be incentive to opr. Just some suggestions.

I know we don’t see eye to eye but what’s the problem with taxes. I never have less than 20k gold in this game and never have issues with taxes.

I think the point people are trying to make is the whole system is unfun.

Taxes (especially high) are not fun. So people quit.

And you are right… if those don’t come in, then upkeep can’t be paid. Crafting stations get downgraded and the economy tanks. So people quit.

So um, yes… lower upkeep costs in addition to taxes. Taxes should only be able to be used for upkeep costs. Nothing else.

Give other rewards to companies who hold areas other than imbalancing the game by allowing them to continue using it to gear and monopolize markets. There are lots of possibilities here.
Give them skins you can wear while holding an area. Give them additional dungeon orbs (if we aren’t canning that horrible system). Give them timeless shards.

/facepalm

I kind of like your ideas. Thanks for sharing. Hopefully we get some official comment on them but I won’t hold my breath for that.

It’s not an issue on the number amount on the taxes. It’s the fact that my time investment is being janked from me to feed some other assholes entertainment and I have no say in the matter. There is absolutely nothing good positive or fun about the taxation system in this game. That is due to the fact it is given to other select players that can then use that money (eg. my time investment) to get even further ahead of me. Every single time I craft something and am charged tax on my houses I am left with a sour taste and negative feelings knowing it’s going to some undeserving jackoff to RMT sell after he’s outfitted his whole guild with BIS gear. These should be the absolute last things a game developer wishes to instill upon people playing their game.

More rmt conspiracy theories. Keep paying your taxes kiddo

I quite weeks ago and had 300k gold but still refuse to give gold to toxic companies and players. Will return when all control of taxes are removed from companies and all bugs are fixed.

You can if you revamp the entire tax system which isn’t that hard to do. You hold towns you get buffs etc… not gold that system failed before it was put into code.

Now I get it. Yeah thinking about it, it is kinda bs.

Nothing failed about it, it’s in place and will stay in place. There are also in game ways to combat anything like taking the town. Nothing says “I’m not good at a game” like making excuses

Just stop playing this shit game with their shit designs.

Its irrevocably broken at this point, the miniscule population that remains of the massive player base that started this game just a few short months ago underscores that.

my suggestion would be that town/fort/buffs upgrades don’t cost anything and are solely reliant on the town board missions. all settlements should be faction owned to bring more unity to the factions as a whole. all tax revenue created is split evenly among every player that logged in that week of that faction.

I will probably call it quits when Elden Ring releases. I mean the developers of this game are just so downright bad and the fundamental design flaws so great with zero chance of ever being addressed. They can’t even be fucking bothered to give a simple statement that they know the tax system is wrong and busted and agree to start discussions on remedying it. Amazon has utterly failed in the video game business.

It would actually be a great and positive thing if factions as a whole benefited monetarily from town ownership. This would incentivize way more people to engage in territory pvp activities. It would also naturally cause more cooperation among faction members. With the current tilt towards companies getting 100% of the financial gain there is nothing but negative and toxic to be had from it. This should have been blatantly clear to so-called game developers when the idea was initially floated. These numbskulls were completely oblivious to the obvious outcome when they not only proposed but actually implemented this system. Just like the idiotic “make good”. Not a single one of them were intelligent enough to realize the obvious and how that would be totally abused by 100% of town owning guilds. This entire development team must be replaced if New World is to have a snowballs chance of ever recovering.

They are weeding out the weak players that ruined this game to begin with, the pve non flagging type will soon be gone so they can refocus and build the game they intended to build.

If only that were true.

Hey Troll boy… its gonna be working as intended!

  • We learned a lot from lower housing taxes in December, and want to further reduce the costs and friction with taxes to players that own homes and have greatly reduced housing taxes. We also increased the amount of company revenue earned from housing taxes to not soften any disruption to their income. We are continuing to evaluate and make optimizations to our overall territory tax system, here are the changes introduced for the February Monthly Release (not in the PTR):
    • Updated housing tax minimum band to 0.1% down from 5%.
    • Updated housing tax maximum band to 1% down from 10%.
    • Controlling company receives 5x coin from housing taxes.

They just need to tweak wars so defenders don’t win by default against more skilled and better geared attackers. Seen it kill many servers, especially post merge. The EF/WW reps trolling this thread are most definitely on the defender side.
