So, pre-Umbrals, I crafted and farmed, a lot. I saved up tens of thousands of gold, and bought lots of GS 600 legendary gear - none of it was BIS or anything, but i got a nice VG and LS, and bought a 600 leg focus set, a 600 leg skinning luck set with foc/int stats for flagging pvp, and a 600 leg loot luck set, all over many many weeks.
Now, i’m unclear on what my purpose for continuing to play is. Because I was farming, my avg expertise is garbage, only like 516 - my highest are chestpiece in the 560s and LS in the 540s or 550s from doing a couple daily gypsum chests.
So now here is my problem: all of my gear bought pre-patch remains 600 GS with proper stats when I equip it, it does not cut down to the avg between my expertise and the GS. However, anything I craft, and anything I buy from the TP is reduced to that average GS, usually like 520-540. What exactly do I do now? i don’t especially care about hitting 625 or anything, but it’s pretty stupid that for no real reason I cannot buy any gear without a severe nerf no, without spending hours and hours running expeditions… just to get to a point I can buy the same gear as a week ago without nerfs? Presumably this means until I hit 600 expertise in all the needed gear slots, nothing I loot or craft or can buy will be worth jack shit - though, super fun, I still have to pay full price on the TP for a nerfed item.
I genuinely cannot think of a reason for me to log in now. Expeditions are fun sometimes, they’re not fun when the prospect is I need to go run them over and over and over (and pay for the pleasure each time) not for any actual progress, just to get to a point where I can play the game like I had for the first 3 months.
Does anyone know a way around this? Or is my best bet simply to just not play and hope eventually they fix an impressively stupid “improvement” at some point in the coming months?
Edit: Looks like the crafting issue was probably a bug related to the holiday armor and has been fine at least the 2/2/22 update - thanks to madbolt for the heads up on being able to use 600GS armor and skill get expertise boosts!
