This hasn’t been announced or even suggested but it could be on the horizon so let’s talk now!
As the title suggests, while decreasing queue times and improving accessibility, cross realm instanced content tends to ruin the social aspects of MMOs. I’m sure we have all experienced rage quitters, profanity, etc due to the near anonymity that cross server queues bring to the table. It enables players to behave poorly with no consequences because player reputations don’t matter.
Some possible solutions:
Aggressively manage server merges to ensure healthy populations for queues.
Only allow cross queue with one to two other servers that way you do encounter the same people allowing discretion to avoid toxic players or players who may not match the parties play style.
I think the pros far outweigh the cons for cross-server queues on PvP activities such as OPR and even 3v3s.
For expeditions, there are already toxic people on those so I don’t see how it’ll be any different.
They could leave it out of the Expeditions group finder, I guess, but the PvP activities need it (with no restrictions). Server merges can only go so far.
I do feel some type of social system should be put in place. I’d hate to see instanced content devolve into ice cold groups with zero sentences said in party chat with the occasional person raging at everyone.
Cross server queues create social consequences that should be dealt with IMO.
Hi Kaydo, I am sure the Dev team would love to see player feedback on this subject so thank you for starting the topic. I will make sure to get this thread sent up to the Dev team so they can have a look. Would love to see more opinions on this as well. Thank you!
