I’ve golded plenty of M10’s with my pvp gear (I don’t do mutations a lot so I have no gear for it), with good amounts of time to spare when I run with friends. I don’t think it’s quite as gimped as people think. Bad mages, maybe, there are a lot who play poorly.
It’s not as good or as fast as without mage, I just don’t know about gimped.
FS players are free kills 99% of the time. Their only mobility is burnout which has a charge up and can be canceled with stagger, unlike GA or SNS where they push a button and are instantly on the other side of the map.
I run extremely low fire resist and the only time FS is dangerous is if I don’t dodge the fireball, or it’s 1vX and they’re doing some cheese with pylon/flamethrower/pocket healer.
I play mage alot. The dude saying FS is broken is…broken in a different way. GS is the current largest threat to… anything, especially mages. I cant escape players that are good at GS. The skill movement and haste let them run you down at some point unless you have a team member come help
Lol I always feel bad for people still playing mage when they try to run away and, with a single button press, steadfast strike teleports me five feet over to them and kills them.
Please nerf Firestaff, i play it for some time and I know how broken OP it is.
Sometimes as FS mage I can even kill some melee player, it shouldn`t happen that FS user can kill someone, pls nerf it.
This is 100% the reason that all weapons and gear should have split PVP/PVE functionality. It sucks being a PVE player with a weapon that has been nerfed into the ground because of PVP.
Very nice work! As a fellow FS Mage (IG included), this was text book performance on how to survive as a mage while out skilling their opponent. Clutch 1v3!! really enjoyed watching that!
Clearly, the OP who made this post forgot how far long Firestaff Mages have come. After launch, we all knew how much of a joke Firestaff damage was until in February 2022 when the dev’s started to realize FS Mages need more love since melee reigned supreme for quite some time and in part, they still do to this day.
The players who have 20-30+ kills as a Mage including their combined team efforts in the above post w/ screen shot, were clearly against a team who were under performers, especially if their “best” enemy player was 9-12. That says a lot about their gear and performance as a team.
And I’m sure you’re very versed in min/max gearing your mage, you’ve got a pretty good handle on things.
For the rest of the players, they need to understand it’s take time and effort to gear up their FS Mage to play like you (kiwdahc) and hone their skills as a FS Mage.
FS does not need a nerf, (And I’m sure you know this). I don’t know where players are getting this nerf mentality from. Clearly, these players still don’t see the dangers that Musket and Greatsword can inflict in OPR or Wars. For players that believe FS needs a nerf, you have not been playing as a FS Mage main for long. Understand that a fresh out of the box Level 60 FS Mage going into 3v3 or ORP with sub-par gear and little knowledge of your opponents are going to dust you easily. Improved build and gear will solidify your gameplay with skill and survivability.
At launch, remember when it was Level 30’s killing Level 60’s? (good times!) It was about “skill” not gear. You didn’t need great gear to out skill/perform a level 60 player. Now and days it’s reversed. Better gear over skill will smash sub-par geared/skilled players.
Yea this is best part. PPl who have 0 understanding of game mechanics and 0 skill and didnt manage to make any single build work for them before now are very deadly in heavy armors running ss/gs xd
I know at least 4 players that did run arena bow/x, fs/x, bb/x, ga/x and many builds and each they were potato. But now i get super hard times to not die to them on arena.
Thats the problem with having only Mutated expeditions as the only serious endgame PvE, something not everyone gets into, compared to what raids and solo instances will hopefully be, everyone and their dog flocks to PvP, encounter various issues with weapon balancing, complain on the forums, with some issues actually being legit, and AGS go ahead and base their weapon balancing around PvP in one form or another.
Nerfing the FS, bow, whatever it may be, into the ground in PvE since not enough people complain about that, considering this is a PvE game before anything else, then when raids and other serious endgame PvE content comes out, you watch how everyone will complain that they cant kill shit in these PvE endgame areas because all the weapons are just so ruined from balancing weapons around PvP.
Have your tried not getting hit by the easily dodgable fireball? Have you considered just being away from the player while they are shooting the flamethrower. You should have a 3 second window to attack if you avoid thos things. Fire mages like their burner spell to get away. Or close the gap. So avoiding that is a minor detail and when they like a tactic they stick with it. So find out if the player is a mid range or close range player and plan your defense accordingly.
