I don’t pretend to be a meta player by any stretch.
Between the hitbox issues, the fact that my character thinks after casting heavy shot she puts the bow away (weapon resets, so you can’t just fluidly shift from one skill to the next) and the buggy misses, I can’t help but think that if you’re constantly getting downed by archer head shots, it’s because you either aren’t paying attention or aren’t moving at all.
I can kill anyone if they stand up straight and run at me in a straight line.
Nerf the bow and musket, too OP, and then buff Great axe and hammers, they need more stun and lunge range should be longer, should also prolong the effect of gravity pulls, currently its only a long range non dodgeable stun, and holds you for long time, it should cause some damages too, lifestaff also needs more AoE healing aside from sacred ground, it heals less too…
Bow does need high damage, it is easily the hardest weapon to hit people with. So successful hits ought to be rewarded. I would argue great axe takes the least skill to successfully land hits and yet it hits as hard as the bow easily.
Bow can do crazy damage if you have all attributes into Dex, you roll dodge before your shot, you hit them in the head, they haven’t taken any damage yet and they are wearing light armor. Great axe can nearly match this damage in heavy armor without any aiming or setup at all.
On top of this any ranged weapon can achieve this easier than the bow. The travel time on the arrows is crazy slow comparatively.
Lmao everyone on my server runs heavy armor if they’re not a mage, and mages have tons of mobility, defensive options, and bigger hit boxes on their attacks so if you’re a mage getting killed by a bow or musket user you’re just really bad at pvp. High GS heavy armor is just stupid, I hit for 7-9k on mobs with heavy shots. With heavy shots on heavy armor users? Barely get 1-2k and since most of the shots go through them or they can dodge them because the projectile is so slow, they heal that damage before I can usually even hit them again. Bow is not OP in the slightest.
Seriously mage is 100x easier to play then bow. You can fire Fire Staff heavy’s off almost as fast as bow lights. Deal about the same dmg (or more against heavy’s). The projectile fires a ton faster, larger hitbox. Also pretty much spammable skills if you can hit your heavy’s because of cd reduction.
Can also run heavy as mage without losing much, so gain a ton of tankiness as well. Can also run lower int and higher con if you wanted and still do pretty damn good dmg if built correctly lmao.
Been leveling fire staff and ice gauntlet lately and it’s completely ridiculous how much easier it is to hit with them compared to my bow, while being able to dish out the same or more damage with less int than I take dex for my bow.
Being somebody that switched between Bow/Musket in OPR ane War, this is what kills me the most. The jumbled up nameplates to where I can’t see who is who.
Mage heavy’s can be fired off almost as fast as a bow light so yeah lol. As well as being able to reduce cd’s on skills easily. Bow only gets decent cd reduction on players/mobs below 50% hp.
As well as just being a ton easier to hit and land.
bow has big numbers and initial burts so people can have few easy kills but
i would really like to see someone beat mage with a bow in a light armour at range in a duel.

in few weeks no one will play bow for the simple reason its so easy to lose small scale battle with a bow in a open world for average player.
most will sometimes lose even from 35 lvl mage or life staff lol.
1v1 duel forget about it haha one mistake you are done , perfect game still you can lose. most
pvp playes cant deal with that.
so just inv for duel bow players and they will quit playing bow very very soon , at least most of them haahhaah.

there is reason no one streams bow in small scale battles like mages do

play some bow like 50 duels and you will quit by the time you reach 10
and average joe like me needs couple of k duels just to be decent if that…

No. Go play bow yourself and learn what is required to hit hard with it. You’ll realize its balanced. High skill cap, high reward.
in contrast look at the musket… Musket has no projectile drop and nearly infinite range, so it’s damage is lower. Lower skill cap, lower risk, lower damage.
When the game launched every guide I watched said that bow was inferior to musket but I leveled with bow/spear anyway because I liked it more. Now that the game has matured some and everyone is realizing what the bow actually brings to the game I expect even more people will abandon the musket for the bow.
Magic weapons are balanced around the mana resource costs, they need to be looked at again probably too. Imho mana costs need to go up on every ability that uses mana. But the mana abilities should hit harder than they currently do to compensate so they feel more meaningful and reward skillful use.
Nope? you need aim for using bow, you really don’t need for other weapons (didn’t try musket but I guess is the same as bow), I would say comparated to other weapons damage it need a BUFF not a nerf.
There will always be a meta in an mmorpg but as long as everyone can use all weapons, armor and specs it can never be unfair or unbalanced. It can be other things, like unfun and frustrating and stuff, but never unfair.
