Except Warhammer on wars, ofc.
Plenty of people still say melee is still op. You not noticing it just shows balance is subjective and that we all have our biased in deciding what is overpowered. I didn’t hear much complaints of rapier until great axe got nerfed. That may be my biased though
🤷
Who says melee is still OP? (that’s not just trolling GA users after nerf)
Funny thing is: when I try to use GA right now, hits don’t even register on moving targets. VG, though, makes everyone melts like butter. Yesterday, I got into a melee fight with my VG against 3 regular melee players (mainly GA). With oblivion and voidblade, I killed all three with left clicks (I almost died but didn’t). This shouldn’t happen.
P.S.: the three of them at the same time, inside the oblivion.
There are more bad PVP players in this game than there are good. I see alot of players in OPR that don’t know when to choose their battle, LeeroyJenkins all day.
I’m doing my part to buck the trend by diving into OPR with a 300 STR/whatever CON S&S/Hatchet build.
I number myself in the former category, absolutely, and…

You’ve made an excellent point. I think quite often what happens is that a person has a build that doesn’t work very well against some other build; or perhaps that they just don’t know how to counter another build, and that leads to the experience that whenever they encounter that build they get stomped; and that leads to the perception that there is something wrong with that ‘other’ build.
What about people like me, playing a specific weapon, but admitting that it’s OP?
I gotta say the defense of this game is uniquely and aggressively isolationist. They seem intent on standing on the island even if they have to kick anyone who disagrees off.
The game has a unique position where there’s no sub fee so anyone’s a potential player to bring life back to the game, but tons of players tell others to leave and then say they’re the problem.
But then AGS have this crazy opaqueness about virtually everything. It’s just… what’s going on? And what are we supposed to think? Because it makes me think players were always a secondary objective, with how easily they’re dismissed.
I can’t say that every critique of a build always falls within the pattern I described. (In fact I didn’t say that…I said ‘quite often’.) Clearly sometimes there will be problems with a build that amount to being OP. I think that it’s perhaps more likely that a person such as yourself directly benefitting from the thing they are suggesting is OP will be offering a fairer assessment of the thing than would someone who is on the receiving end of your attentions.
But at the same time…yes, it’s still possible that your personal perceptions might not be in line with reality. So ultimately while I would give far more weight to an argument like yours, I would not consider it to be absolutely definitive.
I would admit bow is op for instance, but only in the right hands and is far more effective against a weapon it is at odds with.
I am pretty effective with my setup and feel pretty good sometimes and other times not.
So I would say it still remain subjective IMO.
I wish all the nerf threads actually had some intelligent, unbiased, objective thought behind them…
There are an astonishing amount of players who dont seem to grasp the paper rock scissors concept. Many of them just assume and feel entitled to smash every single player, not realizing that some builds/classes/weapons counter others. Melee gets mad because they cant catch range, ranged/squishies complain heavy armor is too strong…
The majority of the balance threads are people stuck in their feeling…
Buff my weapon/class, nerf my counters…
I think people like to complain about what kills them which isn’t necessarily OP. It also doesn’t mean there is balance either.
I’ve played loads of games where I picked an underperforming set-up or class or character and beat someone playing the OP meta pick of the month. The OP meta pick of the month still got nerfed by the balance team.
And then I’ve been in opposite situations playing Fizz mid in League of Legends when it was strong. It got nerfed. People were complaining about other things, that didn’t mean Fizz was a fun or balance champion to play against.
I would take these threads with a grain of salt. I saw a thread the other day of someone saying the void gauntlet needed a buff
Balance is in a good place? we have been in a heavy armor, cc meta with 40 man teams that use the same 5 weapons since launch now. i wouldnt call it close, they adjusted some weapons but the meta is basically the same as it was due to heavy armor and CC
If I were trying to be impartial then I would say I rather have to believe none of them or all of them
hence the hypothesis. Totally get your point though
This only proves my point… You don’t have to look far to read a different version of the meta
The fuck… you have bow people shitting on everyone in small skirmishes, VG/IG smashing every 20 vs 20 + fights.
They need to look into light armor dodges and jumping mechanics, as well as tone down VG and IG. IG shatter is been bugged since closed beta and still procs multiple times now.
This also proves my point, read a few posts above this to read a different version of events
So small skirmishes with bows jumping like monkeys for faster attack speed and immunity and rolling 15 meters with 3 dodges and wars being dominated by VG/IG and healers is a sign of balance ?
Pretty sure no one rational is still asking for Axe nerfs.
