I was about to write again in this post, but I watched this video and I basically agree with 95% of it. What Needs to Happen... | New World PTR Changes and Healing Discussion - YouTube

I’ve been playing daily since release, but after testing the healer in PTR, I haven’t logged in 5 days. If the patch goes on, I’m out. I totally lost the willing to log in right now. The game has been improving patch after patch (well, february was a bit messy), but May PTR is a huge step back.

This video is exactly what I was saying just in video form + added in the con nerfs as well. Couldnt have said it better

I’m sure you are all happy to know that tempest has some pretty good light pieces!

Replace a few as you go along, happy days

@Developer plz just make the heal -30% healing in heavy only for pvp modes or flagged ty have a good day keep it regulars for pve flagged simple and easy everyone happy except for the can’t die heals in pvp

not sure what the devs are thinking by bringing these changes to the PTR… i know why few people whined that pvp build this is op vs pvp build that etc etc

so what do they do they nerf shit to the ground

  • stamina changes
  • 200 con perk
  • healing

omg wake the eff up

i like to change my play style often, one of the play styles was to be a heavy healer, which will no longer be an option in any mode pvp or pve(as players will not invite you if you play this way) on top of the already limiting restrictions of getting into content, these changes will only exclude more types of armor and playstyles from the “acceptable” pool of what players perceive as effectvie in new world content.

AGS logic: oh about 5% of healers are wearing heavy armor and about 10% medium armor, let’s nerf it so no one plays it. Also, let’s add a cast time to the heal that it’s supposed to be the urgent heal, and also, let’s make it not heal more than 4k, because that’s a lot of heal.

Also AGS logic: oh look at that blunderbuss oneshotting everyone, seems cool. Let’s leave it untouched and have some fun! Oh and also look at that bugged gravity well, it is exploding three times and unbalancing all the wars. Let’s wait to fix it until May patch, so we can have some fun while it lasts!

Just wanted to let other healers know I do m10s all day in light. Full ward gear and 200 con. Not saying this to tell you to switch but incase you are forced to it’s very much possible. I also use void blade and I’m in the action swinging.

Ward gear is relatively cheap too. Doesn’t have to be BIS dungeons are relatively easy.

My legit concern is the LE change. I save squishy DPS all the time with that. They can go from full health to one shot in a second. Doesn’t matter what armor you run. That nerf already has healers on my server building mage classes,.

Naw I run a mix of carnelian and void/fire, helps with aggro, and just dodge well. Don’t have ward sets. 200 con

Light healers got buffed and light roll is still an effective kiting tactic. It is definitely still a healer meta. Only way you win without a healer is if you cheese with SnS/BB from the get and kill their healer right away. If you can’t do that, you lose if you don’t have a healer.

Healers are still good and necessary. The channel is not as interruptible as you might think. A full heavy charge must be pre-emptive to stop the channel and if you wait til after sweep or vault kick then they can’t stop it. It takes away from being able to kite for a second but it’s really not that bad.

SoL is mainly used to cleanse all debuffs.

I do think the channel should be 50% instant and 50% on finish or over channel time.

Agreed.

My only problem with this is that it ONLY applies to healers. If healers aren’t meant to be in heavy I would argue DPS aren’t either. These should be universal, not solely applicable to those who are choosing to heal.

There are already buffs for different equip loads and that’s why I don’t think anything should be changed, it’s fine already how it is. Light armor as it currently is on live gets 20% bonus damage 30% healing medium 10% bonus damage and 15% healing heavy has no bonuses at all but block stability and debuffs 20% longer.

Medium healing may have been fine but heavy healing was not. They had way too much sustain, having more survivablity is one thing being able to ignore damage is another. You could ignore most damage and heal a group then heal yourself once then go back to ignoring the damage. It may turn out that this is too much of a swing (IMHO I think it’s too much) but that doesn’t mean that heavy healing was “fine”.

Well said, sweeping dramatic changes across the game, all for a miningame

Devs stop being lazy and create an armor penetration status. It’s better than breaking down an entire build.

Medium healers will still be able to heal. I think these are great changes. I enjoy healing on other games but on new world its stale and very easy to survive as a healer and I feel like when played it requires a very low level of skill. I am mainly a pvp player though so I cant really speak for pve. I want healers to have to worry about position, cool downs/rotations, kiting, and they should need to rely on tanks and dps to keep them alive.

Increased melee tracking is a pretty big nerf to medium healers. Big buff to heavy and medium melee.

I don’t believe medium will be viable or competitive in large scale. Especially with slows affecting dodge distance. Small scale PvP, medium might still be fine.
