New Hope for New World?

The first shred of hope this game has had in a while - a fundamental change in leadership.

A better leader or someone with actual industry experience could move the game in the right direction… I think most would agree many bad decisions were made throughout the development of this game…

However… he had nothing to do with the boots on the ground stuff. All the bugs, exploits, performance issues etc.

Could he have held the team up to higher standards and not launched in such a poor state, sure… but they need to either clean house or start holding their people accountable because his decisions are not the only thing that sank New World. It has been a poor performing buggy mess since day 1.

IMHO everything started going south when Patrick Gilmore departed.

Nah CEOs are figure heads no real impact on change. Unless the new one doesn’t play GA or IG then we may have a chance.

So many bad decisions were made here. Either fix it, change it, or let’s just move on till the next new game.

lmao

Make PVP camps/tents to be destroyed and tweak the ammount of ressources need to build a camp T1 to T5. Give more reason to fight for a fortress !

Good and bad news, I guess.

A change in leadership is sorely needed; Frazzini had no experience in the gaming industry and was too stubborn to adapt, and it showed.

However, the success of New World was tied to his position. Whoever replaces him won’t be so tied to New World and will have an easier time pulling the plug.

This could be a good change for AGS as a whole, but not so much for the longevity of New World as a game.

Glad I’m not the only one that noticed Frazzini resigned 6 months (nearly to the day) after NW launch.

Not while Scott Lane is still leading the project.
(I don’t have any bad feelings towards him, just don’t trust his abilities to guide this games future anymore)

A new CEO is just as likely to “cut bait” or “pull the plug” as they are to invest more money into NW. Don’t be surprised it that actually happens…soon.

Fair point and I don’t think you guys are wrong, painful truths…

True, CEOs are in many ways “Figureheads” however part of the JOB is to take responsibility for what happens in their division/area/silos whatever. However looking at NW and what happened over the last 6 months alot of it looks like “Rookie” moves. For example, pushing for new content and raising the level cap BEFORE fixing the glaring issues in the game. That has “IDK WTF I am doing” all over it. Also, in most corporations, NO ONE wants to go up against the CEO even if everyone knows the CEO is a fool and doesn’t know wth they are doing. So maybe with him gone people will feel free to make suggestions and really press for changes in the right direction.

I agree with anything you said, it’s so frustrating to see what the game used to be and where it is going.

The Decline has been going on for over a year now, the Leadership Change might be the first step in the right direction, but I’m not as hopeful as I used to be.

were at 14k players now and if the patch does not fix the lag/desync/ ability queues the game will dip into the redline under 10k and be scrapped.

I really wish they would retrurn any of the NewWorlds Original Features, especially the “Souls Like Combat” from Alpha, there are acutally quite a bunch of people that feel the same way.

In my Opinion, that Change alone holds the possibility to fix alot of the Performance and Balancing Issues that New World is facing currently.

But at this point in time it would in turn require alot of Work, to dig out the former Jewel underneath the “Pile of Shit” Patches, that have been put ontop of it, in a futile effort to fill the Hole the Removal of the “Souls Like Combat” left in the first Place.

Hence I think AGS is not willing to go towards that direction, even though it could really, really pay off.

Completely agree with this - unfortunately I never got to play the game before stagger was removed but based on everything I have read about it, that seems to be the turning point for the degeneration of skill based combat in this game. I honestly think if they just re-released a couple Alpha servers as they were back then, with no additional work, the player population would more than double. The combat & movement is what made this game gold and it gets worse and worse with every patch.
