Still keeping RNG is the problem, not the perks. RNG is fine for drops, but not for crafting.
“I’m a master chef! I was baking a cheesecake and it came out a pecan pie. So, I baked 50 cheesecakes and got 2, plus 10 pecan pies, 3 ice cream cakes, 11 fruit cakes…”
The problem is cheaters and exploiters.
If they reduce the RNG issues then botted goods would surge in demand and people would make more bis items and sell, further ruining the economy.
So they can’t reduce the RNG without either removing the cheaters (in this case, bots and dupers) which they haven’t successfully done; or make all materials and crafts Bound, which is the better solution.
Once that’s done, they can pull back on the RNG with various methods.
Considering the fact that we’re 9 months in and a lot of people don’t have their favorite 3 perks on each piece of gear (new or old), I would say that is an issue.
And as to those healers who went full bull on heavy armor, I think they would greatly appreciate it if they could make as quick and seamless of a transition to light armor as AGS expects them to…
Unlikely.
They already added Gypsum and Umbrals to slow people down from getting 625 in every weapon – probably so that PvP can’t hop around quickly to whichever is the currently meta or exploitable weapon.
I can totally see adding more perks and increasing RNG to make getting your “favourite 3 perks” deliberately elusive. And in this way not just keep players playing/grinding, but to eat up botted and duplicated materials.
Compare this with ESO. There it’s comparatively easy to focus grind your favourite sets quickly, so people also get bored quickly – and complain.
They shake things up every quarter with a DLC or expansion that introduces new gear or gear sets to grind out, or make a dumb PvP patch that upsets the meta, making people go out and play the game to get their gear all over again.
I would say it’s all working as intended.
Too bad they are making crafting more and more unrewarding in doing so, but they don’t care that their player base has been obliterated since launch, so it’s not hard to see that they are just coming up wtih band aids to keep the game alive instead of making lasting fundamental changes to the game that would not just encourage players to stay but attract new players.
For example they can keep their Gypsum scheme and keep expanding the perk list, but also reduce RNG by Binding crafted items under some circumstances. Then at least you won’t get the best items duped with cheats or rubber stamped en masse with botted materials, then sold to RMT buyers.
Very good point. The more 9useless) perks they introduce the less chance of you getting that BIS perk. Unless they up the chances of certain perks. I spent close to 250k rolling for 3 pieces that contained invigorate/refresh/ancient ward on the new Tempest gears. And btw, they are BOP, so you can’t sell them. Only choice I have for the ones I don’t like is salvage for 1 coin and 1 repair part. What a joke of a system.
As a crafter,… I don’t like to craft anymore, it’s worse than gambling or buying lottery tickets.
The game need a serius revision of perks, remove lot of them and make crafting more rewarding. People want to pick nice gear. I am not talking about get it easy, but be realistic…
these pvp perks good or bad doesnt appear to be on normal crafting table.
chances are you will never naturally craft it. i highly double the devs will take the time to actually add them into your infused leather assless chaps.
there are mods so you can force it if you are looking for something specific though.
