Why not implement a 5th type as Beast-Warriors?
We already have perks that apply damage and resistance to beasts. These rarely get used in the PvE world. Adding Beast Warriors would completely make sense.
Along with that, a new region could be made to allow the beast Warrior’s to have a main region area. Providing another possible Arena, expedition and even another elite zone for Level 60+.
My black outline is just a rough draft of where this Beast-Warrior main area could be.
Along with this adjustment, we could have more beast warriors located in place at Weavers Fen (a boggy terrain makes sense), Along with Northern Mourningdale, to the west of that region.
Then to add more variation to the original new account regions that are now longer used, these can also be used as beast warrior zones as well, with some low level beast warrior zones or elite zones.
(P.S If you look closely enough at the drawing layout of the map, it’s also kind of an easter egg to a certain animal. Merit to anyone who figures it out lmao)
This would most certainly provide more variety into the types of mobs within the game, providing more than enough balance between the tedious grind of hitting the same mob types over and over again without being burned out in doing so.
Anyways, this is an idea. I’m sure there could be much more input on this topic so let’s leave it to others to discuss here as well.
Humanoid style beast warriors. Along with feral hairy pigs as their pets much like how the lost have wolves as their pets. Along with potentially having Centaurs as Heavy Melee damage dealers. Rocking giant spears as their weapon of choice.
I’m using this as an example of the direction that beast warriors could take as a new mob type.
You could also have wolf-people using dual handed weapons such as you see similar to the reavers (ancients) and they would be fang-type blades or daggers.
(EDIT) @Bury11 Any idea on where this new region will be dropping at? Also. The servers are more stable than they had been over the previous 2 weeks. It’s already more satisfactory like this.
However I still have not done any mutation expeditions as I lost 5 mutated tuning orbs due to the destructive game disconnecting lag during that time period leaving me with no choice but to leave the expeditions entirely. Those 5 mutated orbs cost a great deal in terms of purchasing powerful gemstone dust at 300 coins each (30 in total) for 3 orbs and then buying 2 more from the faction shop. It’s why I dare not do any more at the moment.
I think you failed to understand the concept of the discussion here though. Beasts are wild animals and to make further extensions, would be adding beast-warriors. Minotaur, Centaurs, Wolf-people would all be under the beast warrior type. They would also have more interactive level of intelligence to compete with, vs the plain old wolves, tigers etc. Expeditions with just beasts would seem a little pointless. However with beast warriors and certain beasts as their pets. It would make much more sense. As I had also stated in my initial topic post creation. More variety would definitely give a bit more flavour to the grind.
That additional type would reduce the burnout of grinding the same types over and over.
Anyways, the beast warrior variations is more to do with the weapon they will be wielding. The beast warrior type would be a humanoid animal type that is specifically specialised in using one weapon only. Therefore you would only ever see a Centaur wielding a spear and nothing else. A wolf-person wielding double fang daggers. A Minotaur wielding only a Fire Staff. The different sub-species of beast-warrior would only be on the basis of the weapon. We could also see a Rhino sub-type that uses a greataxe that comes with charge and execute. or its own versions of those 2 moves.
So here’s 3 beast warriors we can already think of:
Centaur - Large Spear.
Minotaur - Fire Staff.
Wolf humanoid - Dual bone daggers.
Added more creature ideas:
Goat humanoid - scythe skinned greataxe.
Bear Lord humanoid - Kite shield and sword.
Potential bosses:
Tiger Lord: Greatsword.
A larger, more nimble variant of Minotaur with a rapier.
Yeti - further variants added.
Some lore ideas could be as follows:
Once beast warriors were a welcoming species, relatively calm and peaceful. This all changed upon the arrival of the great corruption 175 years ago, ravaging and turning the land into a hellfire of destruction and chaos. In order to protect themselves and the island. These Beast Warriors sought aid, combat training and provisions from pirate colonists looking to inhabit the islands unaware of the perils deep within Shattered mountains.
An unspeakable conflict soon pursued the island, threatening all inhabitants to a disastrous and plagued extinction. The beast warriors and the pirates fought alongside one another to fend of these hell-tied creatures known as the corrupted.
The seal to corrupted was closed, however this did not end the suffering of the beast warriors. Shortly after, the pirates tried to conquer the island leading to a war lasting 2 decades. Although what few beast warriors remained, they managed to defend their territories and staving off the threat of the pirates.
The island in its current state is a constant reminder of the shadowed past and the thriving habitat that it once used to be, before the binding corruption chamber seal was broken. Before the war that pursued shortly after.
Where once the island and humanoid beasts was highly populated. There now only remains a few tribes across the islands recovering habitat, with the exception of a few hunters out in the lands.
This could be a rather good starting point lore for the Beast Warriors and could definitely be worked on into great detail.
I believe his point is that there should be a larger base of mobs that are coded as “beasts” to give the “Beast Ward” and “Beast Bane” perks more value in PvE.
This, as well as giving a bit more variety in the world to contend with
It could also mean the potential of smelters gear becoming available as well, as a rare loot drop that comes only from level50+ named beast-type warriors.
