New PVP track item rewards should be 590-600 gear score

Hey guys!

I’m really hoping we can convince AGS to increase the minimum gear score drop on the new pvp item rewards from 500 to 590+. Currently fresh level 60’s have a very hard time competing in pvp game modes due to not only gear quality discrepancy but also gear score discrepancy. If AGS wants to retain returning/new players it is in their best interests to give them the best shot at a fair pvp experience. I believe the introduction of pvp rewards is a step in the right direction however I feel it has the potential to punish new/returning players instead of levelling the playing field as intended.

For example, I returned to New World after the first double xp weekend. I was level 40ish and am now a fresh level 60. I purchased some 590+ gear score armor with resilient so I could have my best shot at a level playing field. I’m definitely not the greatest at pvp but having my gear averaged down to 560 gear score with only 1, maybe 2 relevant perks makes it easy for players with 625 gear score and best in slot weapons to wipe the floor with me lol. I enjoy outpost rush but I only play 2 matches a day for my gypsum because I feel like I can’t contribute effectively. If everyone starts getting best in slot gear scaled to their watermark it will be even tougher for new and returning sub 60’s.

Please AGS, set the minimum drop to 590. If you give all the 625’s best in slot gear it’s going to compound the problem for newer players.

TLDR

Noobs are already bad. Please give us a slightly bigger head start by making our pvp reward drops 590+ and then scale the gear score down as usual.

Cheers

How was that the intention?

while I understand the frustration of having to fight in the same arena as people who are much better geared than you, some or most have also put in much more time than you, this they have much better gear and a higher average gear score.

i think they forgot that lower levels also pvp.

also who cares if its also bumping expertise on the way which is what pvpers need too.

The pvp rewards make pvp more accessible by making BiS gear more accessible. Seems like a straightforward way to ‘level the playing field’

AGS (and many other game developers) use power creep to keep the most active players busy by giving them new goals to chase. Power creep also reduces the effectiveness of old equipment that may have once been best in slot. A lot of the old players are probably salty that new players won’t have to pay gold cap for BiS items but that’s just the nature of the game. If it makes you feel better there will be new BiS stuff for you to grind sooner or later that will be better than the pvp rewards.

Also I think the other guy you’re agreeing with is on my side lol.

kinda but not exactly? or maybe i dunno

in simple terms.

pvp and in general everything should drop at whatever your expertiece is.

aka a lv 20 that is pvping for fun should be rewarded lv 20 appropriate gear.

a fresh 60 with 500 expertiece should be getting 500 + up to +5 (or whatever that range is) gear at whatever salt level they are at.

some one with 625 expertiece should be dropping the 590 to 600 +

i dunno if you needed to be more specific or whatever but thats how it should be. at least as you hit higher tiers of salt.

at the beginning having a lower chance of legos is fine.

it really doesn’t matter in the overall grand scheme of things we should be treating the reward track as though we were a fresh 60.

Grit isn’t going to

Sure, but you still need to grind out the expertise like everyone else.

i actually have not heard this sentiment at all. I realize that this doesn’t mean it’s not out there, I’m just saying. If this were the case, I think that people would stop crafting and selling BiS stuff, yet they are.

So :joy:. He said something that makes sense and I agree with that.

i dunno have you seen all the bitching on the equalized pvp for arenas thread?

that and the crafters 2x exp weekend thing?

there are some seriously entitled old guards

Oh yes lol. Is there talk of the new PvP gear on those threads? I haven’t spent that much time in those.

Equalized pvp gear would be cool. But it’s just not our reality rn.

AGS would just mess it up even if they make it 590+. I remember how excited we all were about OPR gear dropping with usable pvp stats. How many of you actually have any pieces of that slotted? I’ve probably done 200 OPRs since that update and have 0 of those gear pieces slotted or even saved for an alternate build.

naw it wasnt specifically in reference to gear.

just a bunch of “i grinded hard for this gear and equalizing it would mean i lose all my advantage.”

its basically the same family of fruit even if its apples to oranges.

heh i keep getting split stuff with focus… like why.

seriously for fucks sake please put in at the minimum an attribute converter for rusher gear using salt tokens.

I read that statement and see “I suck so bad at PvP even though I play the game all day long that I need to have every advantage I can possibly get.”

Reading your comment I read “I’m unwilling to put the time/effort in but I still really want the same results” silver spoon mentality hardcore.

The rate of which you can get 600 expertise on main weapons and jewellery is faster than it ever has been, if you spend the time right now you could be 590+ before the update

Except I’m 625 across the board so how does that fit your narrative?

problem for “pvpers” is that they also want to do all this stuff without having to touch pve. not that i really understand the complete distain over half the game. like why bother playing it.

but i think its fine if they also have a relatively fair compensation for time played and gypsum umberals and gear score bumps earned compared to a pve player.

Pve isn’t enjoyable in the long term imo but we all did it, in arena I would prefer for GS to be void as to even the playing field but in no way should a fresh 60 have the ability to queue arena solo for a few days and get upgradeable pieces which are war ready. It’s not the same thing.

This issue is resolved by removing GS from any instanced pvp other than war, where it would make a difference. This way only 3 perk = advantage.

Then again one week of genesis + a world tour every now n then would have you earning gold to buy gear and increasing expertise

Welcome to the forums @Whats_Cookin! Thank you for sharing your perspective as a returning player and fresh level 60. I will share your sentiment regarding the new PvP track item rewards with the Dev Team. Thanks again and welcome back to Aeternum.

That is fair. War is THE tryhard mode so it makes sense for it not to have level field there.

That said…. Does it matter? Cause since it is THE tryhard mode, a fresh level 60 isn’t getting slotted anyway unless they are also a new tryhard joining a tryhard company. In that case, they are just gonna get gear handed to them and carried in dungeons for shards anyways. So really, truly it doesn’t matter

Fresh 60’s will not be able to upgrade the PvP drops until they reach 600 expertise.

Maxed expertise on the item slot unlocks the umbral system.

It would prevent players from having to re-grind the same set of gear, once they catch up with the expertise grind.

Seems like a reasonable ask/request, imho.
