New quest "Down Payment" bugged?

I took a new quest at First Light called Down Payment. It has the following description:

Down Payment
Monarch’s Bluffs - Level 14

Track down the workers who betrayed Giacomo

Search for the traitors [sic] first campsite
Talk to Giacomo Altoviti

The quest marker points to Letum’s Pick in First Light. I traveled there and searched all over Letum’s Pick but didn’t get a quest update. I also tried killing a bunch of the corrupted mobs there but there weren’t any drops or anything to progress the quest.

Also odd that the quest says it’s in Monarch’s Bluffs despite being received in First Light and the quest marker being in First Light.

Maybe the marker is wrong and I need to do something in Monarch’s Bluffs? Anyone figured this out yet?

No. The chest respawns at the camp on top of the hill. I really don’t get why they didn’t make it available like a normal one.
I tried to suggest making a waiting line but I guess that kind of willingness is not of this time anymore…

Thanks for the report about the issue with the quest Downpayment . Apologies about the problem you’re having.

Lets try these options :
card any corrupted file by running a file check: Steam Support ::

Verify Integrity of Game Files (Steam Support :: Verify Integrity of Game Files)

After the step above:

Shut down the computer completely. Turn it on, then run the Steam client as administrator and try the game again.

Let me know if you can continue the quest after this step please.

Verified Steam game files and set my Steam shortcut to always run in admin mode. Still can not interact with the chest.

Reset set my visuals to defaults and that didn’t help.

I’m running into an issue when told to “defeat the traitor and recover glacomo’s notebook” I’ve been running all over the mission area and no traitor in sight or any notebooks that I can see u less it is a drop.

Protip - go back to the chest from the quest before and interact with it again , it spawns the dude

The marker is in the wrong place, you have to go up the hill a little and its on a cliff by a tent. This video shows it too [New World] "Down Payment" Quest SOLVED - YouTube

I followed the Youtube video “solved”, didn’t work for me still. I’ve opened that chest twice and the quest hasn’t completed/I still haven’t found the notebook. HELP

Update - on the 3rd time of opening the chest - the enemy finally spawned and I was able to complete this part of the quest

Okay thanks for the help so far.

I found the campsite in Monarch’s Bluff with the chest. It’s glowing blue but I just phase through it - can’t interact at all.

I restarted the game and the “Search Chest” dialogue pops up now but I still can’t open the chest.

OMG ! You just save me from going nuts. I have been waiting for 1 hours for a spawn. @dev, please fix ASAP !

New day, still trying to figure this out. I was going to try to abandon the quest and pick it up again but seems like I can only reset. I now have a greyed out quest marker for Down Payment about 200 meters south of the camp in Monarch’s Bluff but nothing seems to be there.

I run back to the chest and I still can’t interact with it or loot it. While I was here I saw 2 other people pick up the chest and kill the worker.

What am I missing? This is super frustrating.

Ok, got it finally. At the chest, reset your quest. You will then see a View in Map location button to finish the remainder of the quest.

My “view in map” button shows me a marker at Letum’s Pick in First Light (not Windsward), but there’s nothing there to do. Supposedly (according to the Youtube video above etc) the first step is supposed to be at this chest in Monarch’s Bluff but I can’t interact with it.

I guess I’m just waiting until the next patch but I don’t get why some people can complete it and I can’t.

Also I wish we had a better dev response here than just some random CM posting in the wrong thread.
