I would not mind being on other server for a week or maybe 2, IF
1: I get my char moved from current server, and keep all progress and items.
2: I am have a 100% garanti that I can move black to my first server, with all progress and items.
But we have none of that, nor do we have any garanti that new server will not be full and have 3k+ queue. All we do have is a vague info about there will be free transfere to “new” server? We cant even get a clear on what “new” means.
I’m simply too stubborn to start over and i’m so annoyed that the problem is based around - well, not piss poor planning, but greedy fucking lack of a contingency. It’s MORE infuriating when the game works, but they simply assumed that people would start over if the server was full xD As a developmental psychologist, I honestly think they need to hire me to point out fairly basic shit to them
Also assuming their issue with extending server capacity is resources and monsters not being enough, they could have planned ahead and made layers so they avoid that issue.
I picked a LOW pop server, ALL servers in EU is high pop, I dont care for playing with a streamer or anything i want to play with my friends. We started together on this low pop, Am i now supposed to ask all my friends to change server because amazon cant predict their own launch even though they had all numbers in black and white. Please pull your bullshit somewhere else dude.
I think that’s more limitations with the game architecture than anything else. If you are going to build with channels or layers, you have to make that decision REALLY early in development since the underlying system architecture has to be built pretty much from the start, in my experience.
It would have been a MUCH better decision. Having a channel system is so much better than using discrete servers (think Guild Wars 2 or Black Desert as an example).
Global names? why, like world set name, makes sense, global just bad!
Having to few server pr region compare to how many pre-ordred.
And in EU case, not assigning server to countries, as said we where easy 600 danes on day 1 on 1 server, global chat was almost fully danish. Alot more join server becouse wanted to play with people from their own contry.
That only work if they made a layers where pvp flag players would be on, basic having pvp layer and pve layers, els open world pvp and the pvp quest be dead.
Well yes and no. It’s fairly apparent that they’ve been planning for this to happen, but their contingency is simply based an a false assumption of human behaviour, but i digress! Angry dad looking forward to game after a SHIT day at work and then i have 3k queue … It really grinds ya gears
…Yes, you are. That’s EXACTLY the expectation and what has been done with other popular MMOs in the past.
Short anecdote: I moved from my starting WoW server to Firetree when it was opened SIX WEEKS after launch because the queues made it unplayable. All of my friends went with me to start over, because they were equally frustrated. I was on that server for the next SIXTEEN YEARS, and I don’t even remember the name of my original server.
they could just add the layers it wouldnt affecft anything. blizzard did it with tbc launch they added layers at start to make the launch easier with questing and gathering and then they removed it. this could have been applied here as well
Most of us are just bored and we want to play. I’ve had a bad day at work and i’m taking out on amazon due to a 3k queue and i kinda wanted to kick back and play with my friends
What’s the point of that, every one of the EU servers have 2400+ in queue according to newworldstatus.com. Do you want people to create new profiles in Australia, on the other side of the world? Do you know what my ping will be?
As someone who knows what went into “phasing” with the launch of TBC… it was a MASSIVE undertaking to make that happen. Huge. It added a lot of spaghetti code to the game that had to be untangled YEARS later (during Cataclysm and again in Warlords of Draenor).
It’s really not that easy to plug in solutions like that. It’s a huge deal.
I’m not familiar with the EU situation, as I’m an NA East player. If you are still suffering under multi-hour queue times with no new servers being deployed, you have EVERY RIGHT to be angry. They opened up plenty of new servers for NA East and there are many with absolutely no queue times and “Medium” populations, which is perfect.
So yeah, if they are letting EU suffer, scream and shout away.
im talking classic tbc not original tbc launch. they did it and it worked perfectly people were able to play in high pop servers and it didnt feel like the game was dying nor having to wait for an eternity to have a chance at playing the game
Oh gosh, that’s an even WORSE example. They had literally DECADES to architect a solution for the Classic re-launch!
I don’t know if you are in software engineering, but I am. Let me assure you that the change you are asking for may seem like a small thing to you, but it is, in reality, utterly MASSIVE from a development standpoint.
