New standard: Pay full price to BETA test a game

Buying this was my own decision, you’re absolutely 100% correct about that. I did not preorder, but as a consumer, i can and should expect the product to work. The product i bought, did not work as expected, therefor im here on the forums, looking for guidance and solutions. But buying video game is not the same as buying furniture or a car. It is something completely different with alot more avariables. You never truly know what you’re buying these days, thats what i’m basically saying, cause these games are beta tests.

maybe we are just glutton for punishment  :fu:

Unless you pre-ordered on Amazon, when I pre-ordered on Steam I paid for it that day, almost a year ago. But, I love the game currently, even though it has many issues.

TIL people don’t understand what an alpha is. This game is in no way, an alpha…or even close.

Yeah, i’ve had alot of issues with amd drivers, looking to swap to NVIDA when the prices are not this high

I wont lie, i love the game, i think it has potential to be very good but right now based on what i get by the people running the game and the gameplay i just cant play it anymore, nothing is working right and the devs dont seem capable of fixing it and i ve seen games in the past never getting fixed so i am not hopeful the way things are going.

I can agree with you on this, the devs definitly have issues, lol.

So buying a game isnt exchanging currency for some sort of product?

Watching a review or reading the forums first would help with that.

I dont know how you buy things but for me it doesnt matter if i buy a car, a phone, a game or a kettle, i take an afternoon and figure out what i get for my money.

I agree, i love the game, it’s really good, but for me, the problems is a major minus. But i’m trying to help the devs by sending the crash logs etc. That’s what they ask for so…

You dont want to understand, do you?

Apparently not, please do educate me

if there was such a thing as satisfaction guaranteed in gaming there would be no gaming, spec in mmos, its a risk you take spending the money on it, i cant tell you how many games ive bought on steam and was like well that def was not worth it but, what i hope for is in the future that same company will take my money and what they learn from their mistakes and make something even better in the future and we can all be a part of that

If “the product” in question is the game?

Read reviews.

Watch the clock, and before your first 2 hours are up, make the decision whether or not to seek a refund. Steam doesn’t even ask questions until you break that 2-hours-played limit.

As a consumer of software, you can and should assume that it will work for over 99% of customers. But there are going to be a handful of people on whose system, for one reason or another (which might never be determinable), it won’t.

Honestly it sounds like the issue is on your end, if the system is over heating and causing your machine to crash.

1: Set a FPS Cap in your video card settings… set it to 60-90 and go on… you wont notice a difference.

2: Check your CPU/Video Card Temps while playing.

… this is one more reason why a second monitor is SO useful. Throw your temperature-monitoring software of choice up on the second screen, turn on your game, and … the info is right there, just glance to the left or right a bit, without having to exit the game first.

My system was high end… when I built it 5 years ago. I’m running it on a 4k monitor with all settings maxed - no issues and it looks beautiful.

Not saying others aren’t having issues, or trying to downplay said issues. I’m just sharing my experience, which surprised me. I thought for sure I’d have to drop graphical settings down to the middle tier.

My PC hasnt crashed once in almost 200 hours of gameplay.

2070super
r7 3700x
32gb ram
1tb m.2 ssd

same here I think it’s crashed maybe once or twice during portals in like 300 hours of play.

Exactly. Thousands are playing just fine. It’s your system regardless of how many other games it plays fine. Every game is different, figure it out.
