New Windows 11 Update causing New World Crash!

Hey Peeps,

Has anyone else updated their Win11 earlier today and have since noticed New World is randomly crashing with no error?

I never had a crash on New World prior to this new update. So far I can’t find any source of the crash and I honestly can’t be bothered to reverse the Windows update.

(Before anyone asked, I have all other drivers/software/firmware etc all update to date).

Not sure if its windows update. I’m experiencing for very first time crashes.

All of them were happening in OPR or War, never in open world, arena or expeditions. My crashes are like game force closing, without any error at all.
From all crashes I’ve got a single time this error:

As can be seen I wasnt in a crowded place or anything. Crashes are just random, I can play hours without any crash or I can get 3 crashes within a hour.

I’ve sent ticket to support and they asked for some stuffs to investigate, I’m looking forward for their solution.

New world was only released for win 10 so support etc cant help you a lot…

For me everything is fine

I’ve been running Windows 11 for some time, as an active participant in their beta program.

I’ve been running New World for that entire time, and I have not had any issues specifically around Windows 11 or New World.

YMMV. But I guess it’s the classic: It works for me!

I’ve noticed that when New World crashes, Google Chrome also can’t load anything. So that has to be fully closed and reopened to allow any websites to work normally.

I’m going to try again, but without having chrome open on my other monitors, and see what happens.

Oh, it’s fine @Edde, I don’t trust AGS support to actually do much as they have a hard time trying to fight their way out of a wet paper bag.

I’m running Win 10.

Ok, even without Chrome running, it still randomly crashes.

I may just do a fresh installation in case the Win11 update did something. Like I mentioned, the other titles I play, don’t crash whatsoever.

Things I would check:

  • Video Card Drivers
  • Audio Drivers
  • DirectX
  • Try lower resolutions?
  • Uninstall New World completely, and try again?

In this case, I might actually suggest you do the AGS Customer Service method. They’re going to ask you for logs and DxDiag’s… but in their review, it might reveal what’s going on.

Sorry you are having this issue though.

  • GPU Drivers fully updated
  • Audio Drivers already updated
  • DirectX is all updated to the latest version, which is installed through the Windows Updater.
  • I lowered the resolution just incase that could have been the problem, but this unfortunately only resulted in the same random crash happening.
  • I’m uninstalling & reinstalling as we speak, so I will find out in 10 minutes, once it’s finished downloading.

I can read my dxdiag & msinfo files far better than AGS’s support (used to do a lot of tech support back in the day). So I know what to look out for, disabling some software etc etc.

But yeah I have a feeling something, somewhere from that Windows 11 update I installed, there is a conflict happening, but for the life of me I can’t find it.

I will review the crash logs to see if there is anything I can see.

This is the last line before the crash happened. However, all other lines with the backup log from that login, shows no errors or failures.

<2022-08-12 19:06:37.257>: [Info] (AZCore): [GameMessagePort] MayHandleReplicationUnreliable() returning false clientContextInstanceId 1 m_clientContextInstanceId 1 seq 11249 m_lastUnreliableReplicationSeq 11250

So this, I need to try and see if this is repeating itself with all other logs from the crashes today.

These are the other lines from the previous crashes.

<2022-08-12 17:36:28.413>: [Info]: Failed to get shader for sort val: 12973006399

<2022-08-12 18:33:11.945>: [Info]: Failed to get shader for sort val: 4199871

So I need to find information about this shader and see if it’s indeed related.

Ok, new installation is done.

Lets load it up and see if it will crash yet again.

So far so good, no crash yet.

Spoke too soon, crash arrived.

<2022-08-12 19:36:49.437>: [Info]: Failed to get shader for sort val: 624968895

But that was the longest I’ve played today without crashing.

I guess I’ll watch some tv

For any staff member who gets around to looking over this thread, these are the 2 updates, which was done earlier for Windows 11.

Seems to have now been fixed.

I did a 2nd reinstall, deleted the Local & Roaming files from Appdata. I did have the game previous in windowed mode, and having it revert to fullscreen may have fixed it.

But we’ll see how long, got a lag detection disconnect and my server is at a 70 queue, so I think it’s time for a nap

I’ve been crashing daily as well but it seemed to start after the July patch. This was before and after I did the recent windows update.
